Anecdotal only, but seeing more people out

I'm in NE Ohio and have been walking my dogs at the same time every day. Until the last two days, my neighborhood has been a ghost town. Eerily so.

The weather is finally nice today, so there were a lot of people walking and riding bikes. But, car traffic has been way up too since the right wing noise machine started cranking up their party over life rhetoric.

Before yesterday, it was nothing to walk close to a mile between cars. Today they are all over. And most have multiple occupants.

1. Beautiful day in mid-Michigan and, yes, I've seen more people out walking

Even saw some kids out riding their bikes. Still not seeing many cars on the neighborhood streets.

I haven't been off of my property in almost a week so I have no idea what traffic is like. However, I have been checking the county 911 report, and there have been far fewer auto accidents being reported.

5. I get the foot traffic on a day like this

But the increased car traffic suggests to me that people are starting to ignore the guidance of our health folks.

I suppose they could all be driving to parks.

I have a big lot so I'm getting out several times a day, just to look at how trees and flowers are progressing. The sunshine is like a dose of medicine.

First really nice, warm day in SE Michigan and I just knew people would forget about social distancing. My neighborhood is mostly seniors and I can see people walking by in groups of four. I went to my nearby park as I do every single day, but I didn't get there as early as I would have liked. I know the park like the back of my hand, so I thought I could get away from the people. I like the peacefulness of my nature walks and even under the best of circumstances I like to be away from all the people. I went to one part of the park that most people aren't even aware is there but there were still people who ended up in the same place as I was. To add insult to injury, some of them were talking loudly to one another and had their unruly dogs with them when dogs are not even permitted in that portion of the park. It is never like this on a weekday in the part of the park I was walking. Needless to say, it wasn't the most relaxing walk I've ever had.

I had to really bite my tongue to keep from telling them to keep away from me. 5000+ acres and they couldn't spread out a bit?

As my oldest sister always says to me, "Yes, there really are that many stupid people in this country."

I've been taking my daily walks in the evening and mornings. More people out taking walks and some families on bicycles riding the neighborhood. It's nice..

3. I get out multiple x each day to walk pup. But, just got one of those horrendous alerts

(the LOUD AMBER alert type) announcing/reemphasizing a multi-county Colorado stay at home order until April 17 (at least)...Scared the bajeebous out of me when it went off.

Glad I managed to score a bit more essentials for pantry and for the dog.

10. N.J. traffic and walkers have been constant.

15% of former traffic.

5% of walkers.

Yesterday, Sun was out. Parks had parking lots half full. Today, overcast and showers. 2 or 3 cars.

In other words, little change from when the state was shut down.

O.T.O.H., we don't got the good fortune of having people telling us what Jesus wants from us. We only get the Devil.

11. I stopped at Food Lion. The store was packed and people were bumping into each other.

They just had a truck delivery. It was eerie that the store's PA system kept looping "Welcome to Food Lion. Please stay at least 6 feet away from your fellow shoppers..." There's no way you can do that in those store aisles with all those people.

Whole families riding bikes. They do not let weather stop them, so staying at home, I am seeing much more and a lot of fun. I am glad your neighborhood is waking up to the outdoors. A fun part of my day, and thru out the day, looking out the window.

Because they found that quarantine at home led to two bad outcomes:

1. People got bored and went out to mingle with others.

2. Home isolation with family members tended to be very effective at infecting uninfected family members.

Therefore, militia were out to ensure that you weren't outside without permission. When you re-entered, you had your temperature taken and, well, the militia was a discouragement to socialization.

And if you were deemed infected, you didn't go home. You were taken to what amounts to a holding tank for the infected.

15. Well, we don't have a militia that can Shanghai you off the street. So that's not a risk here.

In my part of Florida the only thing that scares me is the grocery. People are so worried about getting what the think they need they ignore the 6 foot thing. Other than that we are pretty isolated.

Lots of people taking walks in the neighborhood but not socially mixing. And I’ve seen lots of families with young kids bike riding. But again, isolated in family units.

I’m still going to work but we have precautions that make me feel safe. The wife is working from home but doing lots of yard work.
