5. 20% unemployment is one factor in declaring a depression

The Great Depression had a peak unemployment rate of 25%.

I would not be surprised at 30% unemployment by May.

GDP could drop substantially. Should be well over 10% negative. I wouldn’t be shocked by any number unless it is less than a 10% drop. Just the travel, tourism and restaurants should cover that.

On the bright side, recovery could be quick. Although I doubt people will be willing to risk traveling or large purchases until we have a treatment and a vaccine and even some time afterward.

He's a little down. College student, musician very social plus works at casino. Not coping well. I said buddy we're all in the dark. No one who's alive has ever been through this. I said it is 1918 and 1928 all rolled into one. I was surprised he knew exactly what I was telling him.
