Sensitive topic... Does anyone think they've had COVID-19 and it resolved?

Not sure if this is the best place to discuss this topic, but I kinda think I've had it already in early February for multiple reasons... NYC metro area.

Feel free to let me know if I should delete this post.

Seeing as how symptoms resemble those of flu and cold, and we are coming off pretty intense flu season.

... Like the HIV ELISA test... It detects the antibody response rather than the current viral load.

Trying to be as vague (and maybe useless) as possible to protect anonymity... My very close social friend got sick with fever, coughs, flu-like symptoms for three weeks in early February... My friend is older, and I was very worried... The saw a doctor, but constant coughing throughout the night for weeks. Then, I had fevers, upper respiratory symptoms, very sore throat for a week... Along with metallic taste in my mouth, earaches, etc. We both complained to each other at the time we'd never felt sick in this particular way in our lives... We both had our flu shots... And, I personally haven't had a cold in over a decade... Or, flu because of flu shots... And, I've lived in Manhattan for 30 years. I thought I was immune to most stuff.

I've been immersed in situations since then where I worried I would catch it... Yet... I've been stayin-at-home for 10 days now and feel perfectly fine.

Just, in retrospect... I think I had it. Obviously, my story is anecdotal and not informative without an actual test. But, I was just wondering if anyone else has felt the same.

18. My friend had a flu shot and still got a flu (type A).

Flu vaccine doesn't guarantee no flu. I think this year's flu was pretty nasty and flu can also result in pneumonia. My bet is you and your friend had a regular flu.

Had a fever and a cough, it lasted about a week, and I've been better for about a week. There was no way to get a test. I didn't want to go to an ER because it wasn't very bad, so I self-isolated, and am still isolating.

It might have been COVID-19. It might have been something else.

4 days feverish starting January 26th. Felt pretty bad for a week. Mostly recovered at 2 weeks.

4. I might have because I was around thousands of kids and had a cough

and some flu like symptoms. No fever. On a scale from 1 to 10 it wasn't that painful. Maybe a 2. Doubtful but it crossed my mind more than once.

A researcher tested some of her flu study swabs and lo and behold a teenager who had been swabbed six weeks earlier was found to have had it. She was then shut down by the powers that be so they could keep the coverup going as much as possible.

from COVID-19) make up a portion of cold viruses, though less than adenoviruses, RSV, parainfluenza , picornaviruses, and rhinoviruses, I would surely like to think I'd had a coronavirus that could conceivably provide some cross-protective immunity. Unlikely, but a nice thought.

7. Don't let your guard down at all

Not a medical professional, but without a test you don’t definitely know. Even then, false positives and rebounds can happen, so don’t risk anything. I’m with someone else who mentioned on this site that, until a vaccine is produced we should all be on edge and vigilant. If we do get it, pray for your body’s response to be strong and that you get a weak strain if such a thing exists.

10. I had a horrible fever a few weeks ago...

But it came and went in 48 hours. It was weird, it happened like clockwork; exactly 48 hours after I first felt fever-y I suddenly felt fine. No other symptoms, just a raving fever of 102.

And I am sick with something else right now. No fever, but everything else like the flu.

So, I hope one of those two is coronavirus... otherwise this is gonna be a long year.

I really really wish I had been tested then, or could get tested now.

11. Maybe? But until there's widespread testing, I won't presume.

The past two weeks it felt like I was always on the verge of a cold/flu. I thought it might have been related to cold weather surrounding a ski trip, but looking at the symptoms, maybe not.

Scratchy throat, mild cough, and a lot of gastric distress. A few times, I got the chills. No fever, though.

There were a few moments where I thought I must have had it. But it could also have been projection. No way to know.

It finally seems to have passed.

They live in the Seattle area & had a particularly nasty virus in January (both recovered), & looking back on it, they think it was probably COVID-19.

14. Maybe. I had a sore throat, cough, fatigue, unrelenting tightness in chest, got winded easily.

Felt dopey and slightly feverish for a few days. Ordered a thermometer. Before it arrived, I bought a forehead-scanning type that showed a low fever, just shy of 100, or 100.5 if I tested behind my ear. Felt somewhat better by the time my oral thermometer arrived. That showed low 99 for a day or two, then dropped to around 98 and stayed there. Lasted at least two weeks. Fortunately I was able to work from home. Couldn't manage full days but was able to work about four hours a day.

I'll never know. But I had never experienced that sensation of tightness in the chest before--not pain exactly but weight or discomfort. Couldn't take a deep breath. I would be winded for a half hour if I took a brief, solitary walk around the block. It was weird because usually if I get a cold I have a lot of nasal congestion, but I barely had a sniffle.

If I had it, I was lucky because it wasn't awful. But I'm pushing sixty and I suspect it was something else. I think I would get it more severely at my age.

I have also read a couple articles that said some with Autoimmune Issues may not get it typically as others, it can even seem more "depressed" in those with faulty immune systems.

I have had some of the stomach issues, and aches...hard to tell if it was a fever. I have a compromised immune system so I don't know jack!

Really, as long as the testing remains so vauge and unavailable it's a crapshoot. Im going to assume I am still in danger at this time.

Was it on Rachel last night that I heard that a county in CO is doing a huge swath of blood tests for the antibody - just to see if that can help them track it? I would be down for that!

woke March 11, nauseous and spent the day between bed and bathroom throwing up, 2nd day still in bed, sneezing and weak for another week... temp was actually below normal and no difficulty breathing so didn't even consider it... but have heard lots of stories over the past week of many different symptoms

probably didn't, but I am rarely sick and it was very strange... only 1 case in my county... most of Vermont's cases are over Burlington way

19. 99% convinced I had it in early/mid January

It presented exactly like the mild version, and it was a rally, really odd way for me to have a virus like that: the aches, the hacking, the horrible headache for over a week -- it was just such a bad headache. No energy at all. None. My doctor was both perplexed and intrigued when it was obvious it wasn't the flu.

I actually did a telehealth appointment about something unrelated with his head NP today and mentioned it, and she said there are some of us who had the same thing from Early January to Late January, and they really think we might have had it. They have added a notation to our records, ie a flag, to test us for the antibodies whenever that becomes easy.

It's my head canon I had it!

In late January. Worst "flu" ever, even had the red eyes that looked like they were bleeding, a symptom I just learned was common with this virus. My roomate who has asthma could barely breathe. Of course, there is no way to know. I've heard this a LOT the past several weeks.

Everyone else in the house is fine so maybe it is just allergies. Still think my wife may have had this or another coronavirus strain back in late Jan/early Feb. She tested negative for the flu during her illness.

25. I had a respiratory virus in January.

No vomiting, no diarrhea, some fever, up to 102 or so. Saw my internist three weeks later for a regular checkup and she said my lungs were rattling still and she put me on an antibiotic, refilled my inhaler, sent me for a chest xray. No flu, though, and I'm up to date on my vaccinations.

Otherwise, yeah, I think I had it and got over it, maybe. Or, maybe I had a cold or allergic episode. Or I imagined it. We have no way to know.

Not the same visual symptoms at all, not a bacterial infection in any way, according to doctor, plus my tonsils were removed when I was five and I've, luckily, never had strep. Not deleting, but thanks for weighing in.

I've been around the block and think I have a "healthy" amount of hypochondria and scientific method background... Especially, after years of trying to figure out what meds work for my ADD... Years of careful observation of my symptoms, reactions to medications, and a researcher of current thought... I would never have posted my OP without careful consideration, which is why I prefaced it with a caveat... I am not an alarmist... I was just curious, because was wondering if this community experienced what I went through... especially, since folks in my very close social circle had similar contemporaneous symptoms with me.

31. I live in Manhattan and had something in January.

Dry, hacking cough and difficulty breathing. A couple of nights in the middle of the night I literally had to get out of bed and stand upright for a few moments to try and breathe normally --- I was sort of gasping for air. Whatever this was lasted about 3 or so weeks. After about a week I would start to feel a bit improved but then it would come back again. This pattern kept repeating. I had gotten my seasonal flu shot earlier this year and just sort of put it down to thinking the flu shot hadn't really worked and this was the flu. It was definitely more than a cold. For some reason I never took my temperature so I don't know for sure if I had a fever but those episodes of having to get out of bed to stand up and breathe were preceded by feeling hot/flushed. By complete coincidence and preplanned much earlier I happened to have my annual physical scheduled and it took place about 2 weeks into whatever this was. I asked the doctor to specifically listen to my lungs and he said they were clean sounding. He also very casually said, when I was describing this, that it would probably last another week or so ---and I got the impression that he was seeing a lot of this in other patients. So who the Hell knows what it was. I'm not saying it was Corona but, in hindsight, am seriously suspicious. And it seems that the initial onset of Coronavirus in the U.S. keeps getting pushed back earlier and earlier.

41. Wow... I had to get out of bed every few moments, just as I fell asleep...

I couldn't stay down for a few nights. I thought is was a sudden weird onset of sleep apnea. Of course, each time I was jolted awake my heart was racing. Lost a lot of sleep.... trying to stand up, get oxygen and slow my heart rate. However, things never felt like a infection of some sort though. I was attributing symptoms to my age and health.

I had a sudden short lived fever mid-February, followed by mild stomach symptoms, followed by gradual development of shortness of breath, dry cough, and eventually bronchitis or pneumonia that was treated with Prednisone and antibiotics. But it did not quite feel like bronchitis I had before, and I responded to the antibiotics with severe diarrhea, which I don't usually do. So was it Covid? Probably not, but it might have been. If it was, I had a mild case - and even so it lasted a month - pretty much until last week. I'll do an antibody test once we have one just to be sure.

Fever for two days, too sick to try to go to a doctor. However, it was my sense of taste that freaked me out. That was for days, and I never experienced anything like that before.

My chest, when breathing make noise. Spooky, and it felt like an envelope was over my lungs.

I got the super-duper double flu shot last September.

I've been largely self isolated for several weeks - I work from home. My wife & daughter were not until about 10 days ago.

We've been doing gloves, masks, glasses, wiping everything down everyday - particularly what comes in the house, shopping when the stores open - only for what we must, etc.

Daughter came home with something two weeks ago. I got it shortly after.
Light headache, raspy throat, upper chest somewhat heavy, nasal drip, not much but definitely dry cough, some digestive issues, some aches & fatigue. No fever ever. No loss of taste. No loss of sense of smell. I still have all those symptoms today.

My daughter has recovered 100% a couple of days ago. My wife didn't seem to get as much of it - yet though she was vomiting Monday - which my daughter & I did not.

I was aggressive with nasal rinses and various mouth washes. Ate healthy with immune system boosters- low starch. Bumped vit C, vit D, zinc and added Echinacea. Lots of rest. Low stress - tried to relax.

Again, my doctor over video consultation isn't sure and didn't want me to risk infection getting the test because I'm not in serious trouble.

All I know is this is a weird feeling bug and I've never had anything like it. I can't seem to shake it. I don't know if it is the coronavirus or something else. I'm assuming the worst and we're trying not to infect others.

Went to an urgent care place on Saturday (and was the only one there!). The doc did an X-ray (heard some lung "crackling&quot and prescribed some antibiotics.

No. I don't think it is CV. Just an unfortunate illness that happened at the same time as CV.

It's taking a long time to resolve.

42. Husband and I had something in late Dec early Jan

My husband and I NEVER go out except on special occasions, but this last Christmas eve we decided to go out to the movies. A few days later I started feeling like I had a sore throat, then a cough came on and then the fever came. There were constant headaches along with this very high fever I had for about 3 days. My husband caught it a few days after me and I had to keep getting him a cold washcloth for his head because it was so hot. We had no vomiting, just no appetite, couldn't taste anything, sore throat, coughing, fever, headaches, body aches. I've never had a flu be anything like this. It lasted for about 2 weeks.

I thought that the cough was due to my Dr giving me the wrong rx for my blood pressure which makes me cough a lot. My husband has a compromised immune system and I hardly ever get sick. We live in the DC area.

Which tells me it was something else. As contagious as COVID-19 is, everyone around me would have gotten it. And I'm a teacher.
