And I present to you: our version of "The Reichstag Fire"

Last edited Fri Mar 27, 2020, 09:53 AM - Edit history (1)

Reichstag fire, the burning of the Reichstag (parliament) building in Berlin on the night of February 27, 1933, a key event in the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship and widely believed to have been contrived by the newly formed Nazi government to turn public opinion against its opponents and to assume new powers.

Corona Virus is this moment in America.

Our Justice Department wants to do away with habeas corpus, Labor will no longer enforce Affirmative Action and environmental rules have been suspended. The president scoffs at the needs of health care professionals.

This is the coup. This is class warfare from the top down. There will be help for the Blue areas of America, but it will be too little and too late. "How could anyone know it would be this bad?"

The use of no instead of know indicates english as a 2nd language. In a otherwise very articulate and insightful post this could very well be someone posting from overseas?

Just a thought.

Could be autocorrect.

Look at your spam folder. A lot of messages contain incorrect words, a stilted phrase. Slightly off language.
All signs of a spammer.

Not saying that this poster is one, but we all need to question what we read.

I'm probably the least articulate on this board.

I apologize! I was keyboarding at 4:00 am, when I couldn't sleep.

In a former life, I was an elementary teacher who took great pride in spelling. Apparently, that one got by me.

Ignoring the pandemic response playbook he was given in 2017. Obviously setting up a procurement system that ensures prices for all medical equipment will be artificially inflated, Balkanizing the country by pitting one state against another measuring risk county by county. Insulting governors. He admits he calls his friend Putin regularly on the unsecured phone. Why is it allowed to go on? Medical professionals deserve better.

This time 5 years ago; saying that Trump could become potus, let alone get the nomination, was considered "hyperbole".

This time 5 years ago; suggesting that Nazis could be marching down our street was considered "hyperbole".

This time 5 years ago; thinking that dangerous crackpots in the forms of Alex Jones and QAnon could be influencing people to violence was considered "hyperbole".

If Nixon & 43 could get elected, we should not have underestimated the possibility of DOLTUS.
And I'm not changing my vocabulary because of this revolting development.
