Twilight Zone: trump touts success as US becomes virus epicenter

(CNN)As America became the epicenter of the global coronavirus pandemic, President Donald Trump downplayed the escalating national crisis.

His comments at Thursday's afternoon briefing underscored the growing duality of the fight: While the President is telling a tale of great successes, of a government powerfully mobilizing, front-line health care workers are facing gruesome scenes in hospitals in a growing number of hot spots.

Later, ignoring traditional codes of the presidency at a time of trial, the President lashed out in a TV interview at Democratic governors channeling appeals from overwhelmed health care workers in their home states as Covid-19 exacts an increasing toll.

And he appeared set on contradicting the advice of one of his top task force members, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who told CNN that only the virus can set the timeline for reopening the country.

3. The World Health Organization says Europe is the epicenter for the virus.

And they are right. Hundreds of thousands of cases in Europe and 85,000 in the U.S. comparable population size. The death rates in Europe are far higher. Death rate in the U.S. is 1.4%. In Europe it ranges from 4% to almost 10% depending on the country.

Europe is a bunch of countries and taken together the U.S. and Europe are about the same size population. They have hundreds of thousands of Covid cases. They are number #1 by far. Our death rate is a fraction of anyplace in Europe except Germany.

7. Mission accomplished is more like it.

He has accomplished the near destruction of our government and national unity. It has been intentional all along, all of the criminal acts carried out by this regime and its allies. Bannon said so at that CPAC gathering in 2017 and he was telling the truth, they intended to dismantle our government and they have bee very successful in doing so.

I also think the death toll is intentional in that it creates chaos while providing cover for eliminating opposition and controlling the rest. Classic authoritarian coup. No military needed, right now.
