take half of the money we spend on things that kill and put it on infrastructures and we don't have these problems.

Both bridges on either side of it(Gratiot and Van Dyke) have been replaced in the past 2 years. A lot of the bridges have been rebuilt in that area. They must have skipped the pedestrian ones, or were planning on doing those last.
