The Republicans in congress include experts on pandemic disease control who helped write and pass previous legislation. They knew full well and very early that the virus would be expected to kill many people who are receiving entitlement benefits for retirement, disability and chronic disease.
They literally had the plans and the means to contain it before it developed into a pandemic in America, as they'd been part of twice with SARS and MERS during the Obama years.

This time, in power, they refused to act and actively lied to keep Americans complacent and unaware as it spread out of control. Those in DC only started acting when further delay became politically impossible, i.e., their own voters had become frightened and begun dying.

I can't know why but believe the object was genocide by disease because I can't see any other possibility. I've missed most political shows recently, but Brian Williams' show discussed more obliquely tonight investigation into their "delay and denial which is really beyond debate."

Do we give the Republican leaders a free pass as we are distracted by that depraved and disordered symptom of Republican Party disease?
