Under Andrew Cuomo, NYS has enacted:

- $15/hr minimum wage (incremently by region/county 2016-2021)
- Tuition free state university and community college. (2017)
- A gold standard paid family leave act
- The codification of Roe v Wade into state law
- Gender pay parity

And he did it with a Republican State Senate in power (until January 2019).

Cuomo was primaried by Cynthia Nixon (yes, that Cynthia Nixon) in 2018 who painted him as a corrupt, out of touch, centrist-establishment-machine Democrat.

He won my mind with those measures you mentioned but, as an adoptee active in adoptee groups, he won my heart and deep gratitude when he backed a clean 'adoptee rights' bill and then, when one finally was passed, signed it into law.

He's a decent person and been a darn good and competent governor. (And Cynthia Nixon and Trump can both kiss my bonnie northern NYer backside.)
