I was doing my daily six-mile hike on some back trails at my metropark. Up until about mile four I had only passed a couple of people - two teenaged girls walking together and one mountain biker guy by himself. On the way back to my car I see a man jogging towards me. I've been politely just moving over the right more just in case an oncoming person wants space. As he passed me running he yelled out, "98.4 today" and kept running. It took me by surprise and at first I thought WTF was that for? Then I realized that maybe because we were about five feet apart he felt the need to tell me what his temperature was for the day. Either that or it was his favorite radio station.
Has anyone else experienced that?

(15,532 posts)since we don't even have one like that, but it happened so fast I was a bit taken aback.

(11,949 posts)He is probably trying to practice social distancing but realized it is not alway possible to be 6 feet apart. So was trying to reassure you. If he was being a dick he would have coughed as he passed.

(15,532 posts)It's just that I hadn't heard that that was being done. Maybe it was just his "thing". I said hi to him first, so it's not like I was giving him a dirty look or anything. I almost always smile and say hi to people I pass on the trails.
I do appreciate that some people are trying to practice social distancing because so many of them don't seem to "get it" yet.

(5,308 posts)anyway, a group of 3 young men, high school age, were walking, laughing, cavorting really close to each other. They happened to come down my aisle and proceeded to whiz past me, when I stuck out my elbow in a "keep your distance from me" gesture." One of them gave me a what the fuck look, then turned to the other two and all three burst into laughter.
I just hope they stay healthy.

(15,532 posts)So carefree and naive and seemingly invincible. I sort of give them a pass because most of us were like that as teenagers too. I never once worried about the Cuban missile crisis though looking back that could have turned out so differently. I went to school and some of the kids were talking about it and what could happen, but for the most part we really didn't think it would.

What a visual I now have. Well, it is the Hollywood Hills. Were the dogs foo-foo dogs too?

(15,532 posts)was when I lived in North Carolina and was at a shopping mall and spotted Tammy Faye Baker. She looked even worse in person than she did on TV.

(9,313 posts)...it would probably sell like hotcakes.
In these weeks, everyone you pass at the store -- or walking/jogging -- will be notified that you are at least not symptomatic.

But I'm not kidding about Ivanka. She'd rush to get a patent on it. From China.
