If you were president what would you do to get the spread of the virus under control?

The current strategy isn't working. The numbers are going to keep increasing. The bodies are going to pile up. We don't have a clue when it is going to end, or even reach a peak.

How do we know that thousands a day won't be dying in three month, or six months or even a year? Are we going to keep much of the economy shut down? How many lives will be lost or ruined? We haven't a clue. All we know is the figures are only going in the wrong direction and we have lost the window that China and South Korea used to bring it under control.

Imagine you were president. What would you do to save lives, save the economy and maybe save America? I have my own ideas, but I am interested in what you would do.

reopen's it's society. China won't have the virus totally eradicated by the time it reopens, and unless it demands that people test themselves daily before leaving home, my guess is the virus will re-spread there.

And they started early. Given that we’re way late, we have to isolate everyone—but everyone should be screaming about getting tests out there. I haven’t heard a peep from my Mayor (Wheeler) or Governor (Brown) about that, just about isolation, isolation, isolation. We need testing, testing, testing!

Schiff, Nadler, and everyone who served in Impeach#1 should huddle-up and develop a new impeachment resolution. Based solely on Trump's dereliction of duty and methodically ignoring professional advice by dismantling CDC Pandemic teams , then calling the pandemic a Democratic hoax which has further delayed this country's ability to fight this health crisis.

Drop it on the Judiciary Committee Monday for vote. Let the Republicans carry Trump's water on bail for the good of the country. Their call.

Then I would work with manufacturers to get the PPE and ventilators made and sent directly to hospitals necessary to save lives. I would shut down all un-necessary travel and businesses. I would listen to the doctors and scientists.

SO much more could have been done as soon as the high numbers started coming out of China.

South Korea and Japan have different cultures, theirs are more communal and they have greater faith in their leaders and their leaders return that by leading with a high degree of integrity.

China is basically a dictatorship. Some of the things done there medically could be of value, but how they contained it is only of limited use in a free society.

Italy took a similar tact to China by locking down a large number of people, but the virus is raging out of control there.

I would have my experts look at what Germany did. Their control given their society is a free society is pretty good.

The fact is, now the virus is among the entirety of our 330 odd million people. The issue now is about containing it's damage as best possible, in that sense, using federal resources to get protective and therapeutic equipment to hot zones would limit the ultimate damage, and that is what I would do. I would not have press conferences that required my experts to be present, I would allow them to freely update the press though. Lastly, on my first day in office, I would have put in place competent staff and capable medical experts across government.

trump like opposition groups including political charlatans and religious extremists who believe in or exploit evangelical fundamentalism have been tearing down the elected administration by every tactic, lawful and unlawful that think they can get away with. they have been opposing the public health effort.

Your characterization of South Korea is a stereotype. It is one of the most volatile and unruly societies in the free world.

Rush the production to the extent possible, that doesn’t compromise the effectiveness of the stuff.

Get these to all of the states that need them, in the quantities needed.

First, I'd get the fuck out of the way of the science/medical community.
Next, I'd go to work to assure my fellow citizens that we're doing all we can.
Part of that assurance would include timely and truthful status reports.

This is overly simplistic, I know, but I think you get the picture.
