I wake to the sound of rain which usually brings me peace.
But now waking is the terrible thoughts of whats happening.
Im affraid and I admit it. I hold my cat close to me like a child. I want this to be over.

(1,156 posts)Hang in there. The time will come when this is behind us. Maybe you can do something for yourself this weekend to completely take your mind off of our collective trauma. Just know there is good in the world. Remember Dr. King:
How long? Not long. Because no lie can live forever.
How long? Not long. Because the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends towards justice.
I'm sorry we all have to go through this. Hug your kitty. And keep the faith. 😊

(32,634 posts)Hang in there samplegirl. There's still a long way to go in this nightmare.
We need your strength and calmness. Prayer helps, also meditation.
I find it more serene to leave my TV off for at least half of each day.
Play music instead, read a book, go for solitary walks. Call a friend.

(11,476 posts)Im not much for TV. I find strength through D.U. and staying calm is really hard for me. Even without a pandemic. This makes me worse.
Im having trouble concentrating. Im sad truly sad. Lots of dark days here lately.

My spouse is high risk. Every time I leave the house I worry what I bring home could kill her. And the hospitals here are already full. They cannot help.

(25,539 posts)Im a cat Guy. Raised in a house where we had up to six cats even feral cats have a thing for me. They are fascinating and have real human personas. Dogs are great for companionship and devotion but they present no intellectual challenge. Enjoy him. Several of mine lived into their twenties! 18 1/2 is just a late adolescent!

(11,476 posts)to me. He is so very smart and always has been. When he was a few years younger I would let him out each morning to do his business. Never needed a litter box he didnt like it. I could call his name and in he would run through the patio doors.
He knows what time treats are like clockwork. He pretty much can tell me what he needs.
When hes tired he walks to the bedroom. He cant jump up on the bed anymore so I pick him up and down. He likes me to be near him where he can get a kisses on the head. He has seen me through so much and I him. We are each others comfort keepers.
Im so fortunate to have him this long. I always have him to hug! Hes special for sure!

My two boys are never far from my side and both affectionate. When I do have to work or venture out, my Siamese is always there to greet me when I return, then chat and fill me in on the gossip.
Take care.
