Please someone give me a stern lecture on the evils of weight gain. Ive lost almost 30 pounds this year and I dont want it back!
Ive already decided that the next grocery run will not include candy, cake or chips.

Last loaf is in the freezer. I finally had to stop the comfort eating because my stomach was getting upset. Same with drinking more wine got heart burn.
The joys of getting older and I think added in anxiety.

(46,166 posts)An easy no-knead bread but I let it rise twice and again in the pan for more flavor. I had to wrap it up and put it out of sight.
What kind did you bake?!

(16,296 posts)I have to constantly be aware of my weight gain vs. loss. Heart problems , kidney crap problems, back problems, etc., etc. all figure into making sure you stay within certain boundaries.

(34,136 posts)I lost 40 pounds last winter and kept it off while traveling for three months last fall. I put 5 pounds back on since I wasn't hiking almost every day like I was on my trip. Since all this coronavirus stuff, I have gained another 15 pounds.
As of yesterday I am back on my diet. I'd planned to lose another 40 pounds this year. Now I have to lose 60 to reach my goal for this year. That sucks!

As far as the food goes, we have two little kids so I'm eating less to make sure they have what they want/need - it's not necessary but it does help me not eat as much as I'd uh, prefer.

I've solved the problem for myself by having my groceries delivered. I'm not tempted to buy stuff that's not on my diet if I'm just looking at a list online and not seeing it in front of me.

Oh a small jar of jam is only junk food in hand. My life included huge amounts of gourmet foods & drinks so this Spartan food life is probably easier. Desires satiated & new state has lousy restaurants. That helped. Boston restaurants were divine & mom was international gourmet cook: her hobby

(10,167 posts)but in moderation. Cook good dinners and enjoy them. We have been having sweet treats like cookies, a little candy, ice cream. But when we do, I cut out other carbs during the day like no bread, pasta or potatoes. I also check my blood sugars often (type 2).
I've lost 12lbs. since November and I don't want to gain it back either. But treats make us feel better for a short while.

(63,221 posts)I have no snacks, just ingredients to make meals and I have been kind of lazy so I don't have anything to just "grab". I have been going on grocery store websites, but the soonest I can get anything here is Monday.
I think I will make some Spanish rice and beans or Pasta e fagioli today to get me through the weekend. I am kind of craving sweets and junk food, which I never eat. I also really want fresh fruit.

With fewer trips to the store, I am buying fewer perishables like fruit. I have to figure that part out.
I live in an apartment (not because I want to, but that's the reality in Seattle now, unfortunately) so workouts are limited. The gym in our building and the gym at my office are both closed. I'm pacing a small space with a couple of outdoor walks every day (the same walk, over and over). Let me reiterate what I have been saying, density as far as a living situation absolutely sucks. I envy those in houses. For many years we had a small rental house with a yard, but affordable rental houses in Seattle (where my job is) are a thing of the distant past.

(48,968 posts)fridge if you put them there as soon as they're ripe (the first few brown spots, or a dark line around the base of the stem, should tell you they're ripe enough even if they aren't completely yellow). The banana skin will continue to darken, but the fruit itself should be fine for up to several days.

(27,801 posts)I am really used to having berries in the morning (we have quite a good cafeteria at work), so I need to expand my thinking.
I normally don't like the smell of bananas but now I am just happy that I can smell everything.

(48,968 posts)few days. I've sometimes frozen sliced or whole small strawberries on plates or cookie sheets in the freezer, saved in ziploc bags.

(2,218 posts)I don't cook, and I sure don't bake.
But....I was jonesin' for something I couldn't figure out, so cookies seemed like the right answer at that moment.
When this is all over, I suspect someone will develop a tv show called something like "lose your 50 pounds of covid fat".

(27,801 posts)The dough will keep for a couple of weeks, so you only need to bake a few at a time.

Those cookies sit there, ready to eat, waiting for me to have an anxiety attack, and ready to serve me up a whoppin' mess of endorphins.
If I had to bake them first, well, it just wouldn't work!!
I am in the same boat as you. Lost weight last year, don't want to gain it back but darn that fridge (and pantry) I keep hearing voices that beckon me...

(14,274 posts)I have lost 3 pounds over the past two weeks. I am more disciplined in what I eat. I am not eating out or getting delivery. I have started an exercise routine.
We filled a grocery order last night but it was only fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy.

With the exception of Thur and Fri, I've been eating non-stop. I just gave in to it, but maybe it's best to do it that way and hope your brain eventually moves on from the compulsion to (over) eat. Resisting only makes it worse. Lol.

(48,968 posts)and as a result I've lost about ten pounds over that time, weight I really didn't need to lose. (Went from a BMI of 22.2 to 20.8.) I''ll probably add more carbs to my diet since I don't want to lose much more weight, but it'll be something like potatoes, or sweet potatoes.
I found that sugar free gum helps with cravings for dessert.
I can turn into a real binge eater if I have the wrong foods around, so I try not to buy them. When I do, I always find once again that I can go through a bag of chips or fun-size candy bars, or a package of ice cream sandwiches, in a day or two, no matter how much I told myself that this time I'd finally find some willpower.
