Many outreach programs closed to try to keep people from gathering. Shelters are readying for lockdown if a client comes in and found positive for COVID-19.
Those that can, have went to the desert.
It's getting rougher and scarier.

(12,712 posts)I used to rely on a local University library as a place to use the Internet and get out of the elements during the day. Now, most places that might offer respite, (and bathrooms, water, etc.) are closed. It does make it very difficult and even more uncomfortable.
I also notice more homeless older folks hanging around food stores here since there is no place else to go.
It is going to hit the most disadvantaged hardest and we have hundreds of thousands of people, (men, women, elders and children) living in tents and cars in this county. Many are the working poor, too. They tend to be invisible because they don't announce it for obvious reasons.

(6,042 posts)As many businesses close down and end access too outlets many can no longer call fo help if threatened or sick.

(12,712 posts)I try to find outlets here and there, but libraries were the best options.
So, I keep the phone off except for emergencies.
