Mass testing is just getting started. When we have the ability to test everyone quickly, get the results quickly , then we can begin to get back to work. New tests are coming out where you get the results in minutes.
Hopefully in about a month, we will be testing millions of Americans. Testing was always the key in the fight against this virus.

(22,114 posts)population in an area is tested and deemed safe, then how are they going to maintain the integrity of the safe population? Cordon off the safe areas and restrict movement into / out of these areas? I think that it would be good to somewhat do something like this, otherwise, it would be a waste of time.
I heard that in China (perhaps Italy or somewhere where CV is impacting), that if persons were found positive from the testing, they were stamped w/ a quarantine stamp on their arm, and told to self isolate themselves (or sent to a isolated camp for CV affected persons (I'm not sure). If they broke the quarantine (self isolation), they were subject to severe fines and such.

(31,261 posts)If they are homeless, isolate them in shelters. Very sick people or those the test show are high risk for becoming very ill need to be isolated in special hospitals. Have professionals in full protective equipment check homebound people's vitals daily and give them medical treatment. Have adequate food and other basics delivered to the homebound. Take two weeks after all sick people are found and isolated at home or special hospitals, sterilize all public transit and other public places. Have a standard for companies to sterilize workplaces. Allow healthy people to return to work, but monitor everyone weekly for a month after. Most of the sick people will heal with solid medical care and return to regular society, unfortunately some of the sick people won't survive, even with the best medical care.
The key is PPE (personal protective equipment). Nurses, Doctors, Orderlies, ect must be given full body PPE with a breathing air tank when contacting a sick person anywhere. There should be attendants in PPE to assist those people in dressing, undressing. This would work to insure that healthcare and food/vitals delivery people don't become spreaders.

(22,114 posts)are needed to seriously nail this thing to the wall, but unfortunately, I don't think rump has the fortitude nor patience for this ... and will kill more people. He needs to get off the pot and start thinking other than a so called business person (although I don't know why would one call him this being that he's been bankrupt so many times).

New York state is complicated, too. The City is one thing on it's own, the state is far reaching and diverse.
He's a true, leader.

(21,319 posts)and Trump will hate them because they are going to make the numbers explode, both # of people who are positive and people who die.
Right now we have people who have gotten the virus and recovered without being tested, but IMO more importantly, we have a lot of people who have died from coronavirus and were never counted as such. When you die they don't test you, they bury you.

(24,282 posts)and the results took eight days. She was negative, but after that time span the test is almost pointless. It only says you were negative eight days ago.
Glad to hear there are tests coming with quicker results.
