I Wouldn't Be Surprised If He Asked Fauci And Brix To Grossly Overestimate The Number Of Possible...

deaths to the highs of 1 to 2 million deaths so when they come in where they really think they will - 100,000 to 200,000 deaths he can claim he did a fantastic job so he can run on that for re-election.

This is another way he can con the American People.

any other country. Yes, even Italy. Hard to spin that as a victory when the White Supremacist House was comparing coronavirus to the goddamn flu a few weeks ago. I'm sure they'll try, but very few non-cultists will buy it

10. This is precisely why we need to stop predicting worse case scenarios

Millions is a worst case scenario. We need to know it, but projections assuming the continuation of strong social distancing measures and other protective measures are more in the 100,000 range (horrific enough -- compare to 58,000 reported deaths in Vietnam).

The point, that his obsession with "ratings" when Americans are dying in large numbers is an obvious sign of mental illness applies whether we are looking at 40,000 deaths or more than a million.

Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at University of Washington projects 80,373 (range 38,242 - 160,883 -- see "Total deaths" graph for the US. You can also view state specific projections).

Of course, things WILL be far worse if DT were to get his wish to return to "business as usual" by Easter. (Per estimates in NY Times it would mean a difference between 14 million and 128 million infections. That's 9 x worse. For which we can assume total deaths would be AT LEAST 9 times more (about 360,000 to 1.4 million) and probably worse than that given degradation in care.
