What kind of pathological liar lies about his lies to people who have video recordings of the lies hes lying about and who actually read his previous lies to him word for word as he tries to lie about those lies?

(1,154 posts)What kind of liar? One with serious and pervasive personality disorders. He should NEVER have been allowed near the levers of power. The republican/fascist party will pay for their greed and racism.

And while you're studying that realityjudiciously, as you willwe'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors...and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do." (from Ron Suskind interview)

(10,146 posts)unattributed. Suskind said it was from a highly-placed official, and it represented the philosophy of the entire Bush administration. Most thought at the time it was Cheney, later it was revealed to be Rove.

Cabal has become my favorite word to perfectly describe what the entire Republican Party has proudly become
...
cabal: the contrived schemes of a group of persons secretly united in a plot (as to overturn a government)
I know Trump broadcasts that HE only uses the Best words
..
Cabal is the most perfect, beautiful BEST word for describing Trump and the entire Republican Party

(1,648 posts)The all stud QB had the balls to lie about the first lie to cover it up... Yea, good one guys.
Maybe reporters need to start their questions with:
'We live in a whole different world than we did fifteen minutes ago... What is your plan to protect healthcare workers and stop the rapid spread of COVID-19 across every town in the U.S.?'
'We live in a different world than we did five minutes ago... What is your administration's plan to recover from the initial lack of response?'
'Whoa, this is a new day and an entirely different world the United States is facing on their own front doors... How do you plan to stop this virus?'
Force him to come up with the answer, instead of begging him for it. He wants to say this is something we have never faced, then run into his BS statements and he will collapse.

Bullying, avoiding the questions, degrading the person asking.
I always wondered why others don't stand up, and ask the same questions.
Might get an answer, or Trump may go down with blood pouring from his ears.
Either response is acceptable.

(8,200 posts)I used to have admiration for the reporters who challenged administrations and held them accountable. Very few of the present lot have the balls to challenge this monstrosity. Trump knows this and takes advantage of these wishy-washy spineless fakes.

(111,237 posts)The "pathological" part signifies someone for whom lying is part of an underlying disease, he'll lie about things even when the truth would serve him and everybody around him much better.
He is a malignant narcissist. They lie because they are driven to say whatever will make them feel better in any given situation. They are often incapable of telling the truth if it will either make them look less than omniscient and omnipotent or especially if it takes the focus off them and their fantasy accomplishments.
I just wonder how bad this is going to get before somebody gets him out of there.

Will they know who to blame?
Will there be repercussions, of the magnitude of post WW2 in Italy?

(43,123 posts)Trump is totally about altering his present reality to make himself feel good about himself in the present moment. I have known a few people like that. They expend tremendous mental energy to maintain their self-talk and positive vision about themselves, but then the downside is that at another point they must flush the suppressed negativity. This comes in the angry tweets, but I've also seen it in cynical views of everything and everyone. If you ask about something they said at a later time, they deny it, it just never happened. It's self-deception, but is frustrating for others to whom the reality of facts and figures matter.
