He obviously eats, so he does open his mouth for that. And given how he sounds as he breathes, it is likely that he opens his mouth to snore.

But apart from that, I agree.

"A friend of mine" means "He's not mob, but I vouch for him".

"A friend of ours" means "He's in the mob".

Of course I gained this wisdom in the joint, and not from Scorsese.
