Beneath the anger, under the fear and lurking in the background of our utter amazement

at the totally inept way our nation has addressed the Covid 19 crisis is---embarrassment.

Around the world, enemies and allies alike are thinking---if not yet saying---"Oh, how the mighty have fallen." Analogies between Donald Trump and Ozymandias are unavoidable and undeniable.

At this point, I can only hope I live long enough to see justice done.

My wife and I went to Paris in January 2017 after Trump's election but before his inauguration. Nearly everyone we met asked about Trump. At the time, we were simply embarrassed by the election and we always asserted that we didn't vote for him.

Three years later, we're appalled and humiliated. Trump is destroying everything that made the United States a nearly great nation. It's not just his mishandling of the COVID-19 crisis. Everything Trump has done is despicable and anti-American.

We yearn for better times and a better country.
