Florida governor doesn't want cruise ship with sick passengers to dock in state

Note: Someone on social site said that there were two people who lived in my city on board.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. —

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis doesn't want a cruise ship where four people died and others are sick to offload passengers for treatment.

He says Florida can't treat outsiders right now. Many of the passengers on board are American or Canadian.

Speaking at a news conference at a testing center outside the Hard Rock Stadium on Monday, DeSantis said Holland America should send doctors and treat passengers on board.

The ship has been searching for a port since leaving South America.

A sister ship, the Rotterdam, picked up the apparently healthy passengers. The ships are about three days from Florida.

Panama's government said Sunday that it will allow two the two Holland America cruise ships to pass through the canal on their way to Florida even though one of the ships has confirmed COVID-19 cases.

I guess by registering in another country to avoid usa taxes saved the company money but completely screwed the passengers

who are going to go to cruises now?

I thought all cruise lines around the world have been told to shutter their operations. People have known for several weeks about the dangers of cruises. So when exactly did this cruise set sail?

The last of the cruise lines that departed in late February early March where inundated with sick people and it was my understanding that all cruise lines were told cease operations. Are there still cruise lines in operation?

It's definitely going to make it into the documentary of how the U.S.A. boneheaded their way through the first four months of this crisis.

I was also led to believe that they could no longer sail but don't know what the supposed cut-off date was.

My son lives in Ft. Lauderdale and TBH I wish they'd send the ship back where it came from. Last time I checked, Broward County was already a hot spot.

How about if they unload at Mar-a-Lago and put the property under lock-down?
