(3,751 posts)His positions just so happen to not run along the sham plumb-lines of the utterly corrupted 2-party corporatist system that the US suffers under.
'The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy.'

Lest we forget his comments about the 13-15th and 19th Amendments being needless government interference.

(3,991 posts)That must be why the dems wiped it out, along with the wars, when they had control of congress. LOL!
I'm loving the Ron Paul rise for just this reason, Dems cuddled up to anti-civil liberties and pro-war stances which were quite wrong, and left them very exposed politically. Their good deeds, like Dodd Frank, redeem them IMHO, but this bite on the ass from the young Republicans more against war and for liberties than them (based on their votes, surely against their own consciences) is a well deserved reminder of how far into abject madness consensus opinion can lead the so called "moderates".
