Alabama Governor: "Y'all, we're not Louisiana, we are not New York State....."

Alabama's REPUBLICAN governor (of course) in the Washington Post:

Millions of Americans continue to live under state-issued stay-at-home orders, an effort to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus that has infected about 90,000 people in the United States. By containing the spread, officials hope to better understand the scope of the virus’s reach and reduce the strain on hospitals from an influx of new cases.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) doesn’t seem to have a sense of urgency about implementing a similar order in her state.

“Y’all, we are not Louisiana, we are not New York state, we are not California,” she said on Thursday, according to the Montgomery Advertiser. “Right now is not the time to order people to shelter in place.”
----------------------------

"Y'all" know what? In Alabama, the governor is not only not Louisiana, New York or California, she is also not Compos Mentis, although she probably thinks that is the capital city of Nevada.

The makeshift tent hospitals in Central Park are visible from the penthouses of his properties.

In Alabama, being "not New York" and all, word takes time to filter down. With any luck, their governor will attend a crowded church this Sunday, and be asking God (from her isolated hospital bed) a week later why she didn't get the warning?

I didn't see any follow up indicating that she had received any celestial emails informing her of her error.

Y'all are proving to be poster children for the Dunning Kruger effect, in that case.

If you ignore the Darwinian survival of the most adaptable, then you are merely playing into something that tends to happen when that fails: extinction.

Now, maybe y'all in Alabamee are not as dumb as a box a' rocks like that thar Governor, but then, why in tarnashuns do ya' put incompetent idyots in charge there by votin' fer 'em? Somethin' is wrong in Alabama, thas fer sure.

Will the intelligent Alabamians please step up, please step up, please step up?

Drove through there a few years ago and wouldn't you know? Perched high on top of a hill on the side of the highway: the largest Confederate flag I've ever seen. Gross.

You've never seen Alabama like this. Drone footage shows what the state looks like when everything shut down to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

But here's some encouraging news:
‘Only in Alabama’: Boiled peanuts delivered to your front door

Nearly two weeks ago, Jamie Thursby had to make a tough call and temporarily closed his little peanut shop on Birmingham’s cobblestone-paved Morris Avenue.

Like many small businesses, the Alabama Peanut Company had been staggered by the economic blow caused by the coronavirus outbreak, and Thursby, who launched his business about three and a half years ago, was uncertain when it would end.

He didn’t have a Plan B.

“I made the decision – kind of reluctantly -- that (March 20) was going to be our last day,” Thursby recalls. “I didn’t know how we were going to survive this because it was indefinite how long it was going to last.”

With only three other full-time employees on his staff, Thursby thought he might be able to weather the storm better than most small businesses, but he wasn’t sure how to make it work.

Then, inspiration hit.

If his customers couldn’t come to him, Thursby would go to them.

So, he went into the delivery business.

That’s right. Boiled and roasted peanuts, delivered hot and fresh to your front door.

Somebody there either got to the governor in a big hurry, or else a lot of Alabama mayors told her to stick it you-know-where. Those scenes are definitely NOT what she was telling her stats just 4 days ago.
