Things are not going back to normal for at least 60 days. How do we live without jobs?

We are looking at things getting worse in the next three weeks. A return to a semblance of normal is 60-120 days in the future if we’re lucky.

How do the majority of us live, hunkered down in our homes, unable to earn an income with bills piling up? The Feds need to step it up and provide MEANINGFUL money to all of us. Fuck this $1200 bullshit that will get the average family through a week. Not everyone will qualify for unemployment benefits. What do you do if your monthly nut exceeds $4000-7000 a month?

What is the plan? Every man for himself?

You know there’s a lot more money going out in unemployment benefits, right?

Try to prop up the stock market. Who needs PPE when the hospitals will just sell it out their back door?

for benefits before any Fed $ kicks in. Different states have different rules that need to be modified.

If you quit your job simply because you’d rather stay home out of caution, that does not qualify.

Also not eligible for unemployment coverage are people able to work from home, workers receiving paid sick or family leave and people just entering the job market. And what about the long term unemployed trying to find work when millions of people have just entered the out of work job market?

The bill makes it all the same to avoid the disaster of each state trying to implement its own deal.

There’s no reason for states not to change the rules.

will basically ensure those who were making $50,000 will be made whole for next 4 months. Mortgages can be deferred and there are some restrictions on evictions. The latter needs more.

Not perfect and surely worrisome for those caught in it, but it’s much better than what was available in any other recession, disaster. If needed, think there will be more.

trump and GOPers don’t offer a lot of reassurance, though.

except access to personal bank accounts. Basically nobody gets paid and no one racks up bills. While something like this goes on, people get food vouchers and maybe a little more to cover gas. People can still supplement the vouchers with their own money if they want to eat more extravagantly.

Landlords don't collect rent, but also are off the hook for all their bills. It seems like something could be worked out that let's everything start back up easier when it's over.

of course.

A three month hiatus would be very interesting.

We used to debate this in the 60’s and 70’s: if WWIII happened, how would the survivors, if any, survive fiscally?

this time before the markets tanked, how could that be worse? Maybe someone with more finance knowledge could tell me that's impossible, but why would things tank when they threw the switch and started back up when everyone was going back to work?

to spend any money. You don't drive much so the odds of a car breakdown are way slimmer. I go for months without really spending much on stuff. If my food was covered well, I could get by for a few months and be just fine.

At the same time the stock market collapses. At least they are going to waive the penalty fee but retirements are really going to suffer. I raided mine last year when I was out for 6-7 months. I was over 59 1/2 so I didn’t pay a penalty but you have to pay taxes on it. I just realized today i probably won’t get the full $1200 because I took so much money out.

I was just thinking earlier (while trying to shop for masks online), this would be a prime time for bank robbers to make a comeback. Who's going to notice a guy in a mask? Of course, they'd have to find a bank that's doing more than drive through!
