According to former Republican strategist Rick Wilson, GOP sources said that there is en effort to deflect the criticism of Trump by citing impeachment.
About the time Wilson revealed the new talking point, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell used it during an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.........

(5,810 posts)It doesnt matter if they are plausible. It doesnt matter if they actually work for long. It gives the dumbasses something to say besides hummmahuh, hummmmanuh at the daily pep rally. The sheep will follow along and say, yeah. Boo-ya! The rest of us roll our eyes and put snarky things on Twitter.

Well, he *has* had quite a busy schedule:
January 9th -- rally Toledo
January 13th
Test available. CDC should have been sourcing sampling supplies and distributing to states while simultaneously working to source supplies and mass produce the test and developing an effective distribution network. The FDA should have immediately used emergency use authority (EUA) to give labs across the country the go ahead to produce and distribute that test, or their own.
January 14th rally Milwaukee
January 17th entertains Louisiana State football team at WH (College football champions)
January 18th golf
January 19th golf
January 19th addresses American Farm Bureau in Austin, touting his greatness
January 24th addresses anti-abortion March for Life rally
January 28th rally Wildwood, NJ
January 30th rally Des Moines
February 1st golf
February 5th vote on impeachment
February 6th addresses National Prayer Breakfast
February 6th in what he calls a "celebration" (of impeachment vote) he delivers remarks from WH
February 9th attends National Governors Association dinner
February 10th rally Manchester, NH
February 15th golf
February 15th headlines fundraising dinner at billionaires home (link)
February 19th rally Phoenix
February 20th rally Colorado Springs
February 21st rally Las Vegas
February 28th rally North Charleston
February 29th speech to Conservative Political Action Conference
March 2nd rally Charlotte
March 7th golf
March 8th golf
March 8th Mar A logo fundraiser (some attendees later tested positive)
All of those may have cut into his Twitter time a little bit:
From 1/13 (when test was available) to March 8 (when they started acting)
Total tweets = 1851 (average 32 per day)
His tweets = 816 (average 14 per day)
His retweets = 1035 (average 18 per day)
But it was the impeachment proceedings (which he pointedly chose 'not to participate in') for not doing his job properly that kept him from doing his job properly?
If you believe that, I have a nice little bridge I can sell you, cheap!

(1,178 posts)Yes, they're throwing whatever they can against the wall and hoping it sticks in order to absolve Trump of his incompetence on dealing with this. If it's not the impeachment, it's because the Chinese weren't transparent enough. They're hoping a lot of people have faulty memories by trying to rewrite so much history.
