Local update from AZ: Stay at Home Order starts 5pm Tonight, many businesses planning to flout

(or so I hear, I don't have a link)

Case in point: My hairdresser says her salon owner is refusing to close and refusing to let employees wear masks.

My hairdresser and several others in the salon have walked out in protest. (I applaud her!)

It's very hard on them: these are workers who are independent contractors. They rent stations from the salons, and if they are not doing hair they are not getting paid. No unemployment, no nothing.

It's illegal for them to practice at home without doing all the paperwork to establish their home as a business.

For all the beauticians out there: I feel for you.

Even though it's technically illegal, I'm going to have my hair done at her home next week. And, I'm going to give her a big tip.
It really is the least I can do.

How will you stay 6 feet apart? I do love getting my hair colored frequently at a salon. But for the duration I ordered color from a beauty supply store and DIYed (haha dyyyed it) myself. Came about a little better than I had hoped, but not as good, of course, as when done by a professional.

Good luck! 🙂

But she is desperate for the money and I can't blame her.

It's just a tough situation.

(She's a widow, with no income from her deceased husband, as he had no estate, she was the breadwinner of the family).

I’m scared for my husband’s health. But so many share my fears plus fear of not having enough food, paying the rent etc. 💕

I feel for you. I wish there was a way to flip NM with AZ. Let the 'zonies align with Texas and we could align with New Mexico.

Seeing that AZ was part of the NM territory, we just need to go back in time and figure out how to flip the split.

To be fair, we would take Tucson and Flagstaff.

We've elected Kirsten Synema (although she's drifted to the right a little bit, but she used to be very left)

There's a VERY good chance that we will elect Mark Kelly to the Senate this fall. So that would make both Senators DEMOCRATS!!

We just need to get rid of Ducey.

Normally I would happily join you immediately, but I am hopeful we are moving this state from red to purple to blue. Gotta get rid of McSally in November, then let’s pick up this discussion 🙂

I'm in infra-red Scottsdale.

However, I was STUNNED at how many people were at my polling place for the Dem primary! It was BUSY!!!
I had no idea there were so many Dems in my precinct!

Maybe things are changing even here!!

My aunt used to do people's hair at her home all the time.

And her husband was a police officer.
