<snip>
The news that all Roger Federer fans didn't want to hear in the end arrived. The Swiss Maestro officially announced his tennis retirement from professional tennis.
Federer confirmed this sad news through a touching post published on his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Through Twitter, he should clarify all the reasons for his decision in the coming hours through a press conference. Federer hasn't gone into the details of his decision yet. However, this is what we can understand for now: the quarantine period gave him plenty of time to think and prioritize again.

Maybe he doesn't feel as competitive as he was at least until 2019, especially against Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, with the Serb now becoming his real nightmare. The only thing Roger said on Twitter is that his injury, along with the interruption of tennis for the quarantine, gave him a lot of time to talk to his family.

Now he has developed a new perspective to see things and how he wants people to remember his legacy. Roger revealed that he had accomplished everything he wanted from his career. But now the time has come for the end of his professional life.

Easily the most elegant player I have watched - he had a great career. I'm not really a Federer fan, but I do recognize his greatness.

Well caught

Damn, she could still dominate for another year I would think.

This virus really is changing the course of a lot of things we won’t realize until much later.

this would be my time to leave the sport. And neither Roger not Serena needs another dollar.

Or preschool. Her daughter is probably getting to that age, and retirement would give her tons of time with her.

Indeed as elegant as they come on the court. Probably the most perfect back-hand swing I have ever seen, and I've been following tennis since the late 70s.
