The need for testing

My adult daughter has a job that requires a lot of travel. She’s been stranded down south for a few weeks and will be heading back up north soon. She’s been very safe in an area that’s not a hot spot so that’s good. We are also fine up north.

We think.

Maybe all of us are perfectly healthy. Maybe one of us is infectious and asymptomatic. If she’s in that category, she would prefer not to come see us for fear that we might get sick. And if we’re in that category she would prefer not to fall ill.

You know what would help? A test. This should not be that challenging. And yet here we are. In the most dysfunctional country in the world.

Clearly, by contact, clothes, keypads and doorknobs, being infected is not a prerequisite for transmission.

I look forward to a day when I can take a test, the Stanford test might be available soon, but I'll still follow social distancing guidelines until there's a cure/vaccine.
