It makes me smile.

4. Where I grew up we had a Saturday noon test for nuclear war

This was early 60s around the Cuban missile crisis time.
I was only 7 or 8, and terrified that the Soviets knew about this and would launch an attack at noon on Saturday, and we wouldn't know to duck under a desk and thus avoid any bad effects from the bombs.

5. It happens in our small town, too, every week.

I like the way they sound and always open the windows to get a better listen.

6. When I was growing up,

there was an air raid siren on a utility pole in the back corner of our backyard. It was tested once a week at noon, I believe it was on Saturdays. Just about everything stopped until the test was done.
