Author J.K. Rowling says she's 'fully recovered' after experiencing 'all symptoms' of COVID-19

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has revealed that she has been suffering from “all symptoms” of COVID-19 over the past two weeks— although hasn't been tested for it.

The writer shared the news via her Twitter account as she linked to a video featuring advice on how to relieve the respiratory symptoms of the virus while stating that she had followed it on the recommendation of her husband Neil Murray, a doctor.

She added that she has “fully recovered.”

2. Oh good grief. 90% of those who have been tested for thinking they have the CV actually didn't.

To claim this, w/o evidence seems reckless and irresponsible.

It's advice from a doctor about an exercise that will help you to open up your airways. Whether Rowling had CV19 or not, is not necessarily the issue IMHO.

6. that's rather baseless.

first, the most common test has a roughly 30+% false negative rate, meaning that about 30% of the people who actually have it will actually test negative.

second, the current tests are for active infections, not previous infections. if you've recovered enough by the time you're tested, you'll test negative, even though you had it previously. until there's a widely available test for antibodies, we can't really know who had it but no longer has it.

in this case, she said she had all the symptoms, but stopped short of saying she actually had it, which seems like a pretty careful, responsible way to describe her illness.

percentages of tests given out, and the negative results/positive results, and they are skewed lopsided towards being negative, test results. I wasn't talking about test a, and test b, and then test c, etc. I wasn't talking about his at all, somehow you thought I was. I wasn't analyzing the tests either. I was simply referring to the fact that a majority of people who thought that they had the CV, didn't in fact have it. Period.

You're right about the antibodies test, we do need this, for a lot of people have said that they have recently been sick and recovered in the later portion of Winter, 2019 and some speculate that the CV was already here, spreading silently. The antibodies would be a good indicator of just how widespread CV was, and perhaps help ID why it's in certain places now.

8. ok, i thought you were talking about those tested because you used the word "tested" in your title

but if you mean 90% (or now merely a "majority&quot of all people who merely *thought* they had it, fine, there's no good way to measure that so i can't dispute it, and in any event, i certainly agree that a lot of people can easily mistake any of a number of variants of the cold/flu for covid-19.

that said, j.k. rowling surely had one or several excellent doctors check her over (billionaires tend not to skimp on such things) and likely was able to make a more expert assessment (albeit without a formal test), which would make her assessment at least somewhat more informed than that of the typical person who suspects covid-19.

and again, she stopped short of saying she actually had it, just that she had all the symptoms.

10. Every doctor I've talked to says it can attack your breathing

it Is not reckless for Dr (watch the video, he is a doctor) to show an example of breathing exercises to improve your lung effectiveness/capacity.

After heart surgery last summer my husband was given an inspirator to do deep breathing exercises. This video show similar exercises without the plastic device.

My suggestion is to watch the video, then either file it for future use or ignore it. I’m bookmarking it.

I think I may start doing this every morning. I still have my annual mild case of pleurisy lingering around. Perhaps this will help clear this out finally. And it's good to know in case my husband and I get sick.

Thanks for the link.
