Maintaining the chain of command is, of course, essential to a well-run military. But the same can be said of protecting the health of those who serve the nation at sea.

Placing the interests of those under his command over what would be good for his career is exactly what we should expect from naval officers ...

The Navy’s higher-ups need to show that they share the respect that most Americans feel for the captain — and ensure that there is still a place for courageous men like him in the Navy.

Sounds like bullshit to me.

I'd also like to know how many discrete attempts he made to try to rectify the problem before sending an email to 20-30 people (and if that's even true).

I don't know the escalation path for him and it could be a senator or something but I can understand Crozier sending out a loud SoS if his normal CoC isn't acting quick enough

3. You don't make Captain on a Nimitz class ship

and not know how to work your chain of command. I can’t begin to imagine how desperate he felt to resort to the tactics he eventually used to ensure the safety of his crew. Someone definitely should be fired over this, it just shouldn’t be Capt Crozier.
