They may be, but Trump will take that to mean it's time to "Open" again and stop all of this social distancing and get back to normal activities. Watch for him to say something like that very soon now.
DON'T TRUST THAT!
All it will take for the pandemic to explode again will be for people to drop their guards and stop paying attention to what has actually caused a drop in the numbers. What was that? It was the social distancing and shutting down of places where people gather in close proximity.
DON'T BE MISLED!
Even if the green light is given for a return to more normal social behavior, don't listen. Maintain what you have been doing. Minimize your exposure to others. Since inadequate testing has not been done, we have no earthly idea how many cases are out there, waiting to pass the virus on to others.
DON'T TRUST ANYTHING DONALD TRUMP SAYS!
He will lie you you, just as he has been doing all along.
Keep following those guidelines to protect yourself and others. Don't let down your guard.

Good Luck but don't be stupid!
...VALID FDA approved treatments. The soonest any of these new candidates would be available would be September or October, and that is if everything goes flawlessly which it almost never does with FDA approval, fast track or not.

Probably closer to 18.
We have to hope that the virus doesn't significantly mutate in the meantime.

(115,584 posts)which is staying in and behaving as if I had the bug even though I don't. Trump is the last person on earth I believe with respect to anything, let alone this. I'll pay attention to what Gov. Walz and the state health dept. have to say, but I no longer trust anything that comes out of the federal government, even the CDC, because every agency has been either gutted or politicized or both. If I have to stay cooped up at home for the next year or so to save my wrinkly old hide, so be it.

If he had pulled the trigger 2 or 3 days sooner, probably an A.

We need our Governors to hold the line. Let them act as leaders and defy Donald J. Trump's greed and selfishness.

(5,639 posts)I expect our governor will follow whatever trump says. Not sure if the city governments will follow suit though and that is my only hope.
I plan on following the guidelines until there is a working vaccine and treatments. Who cares what people think of me. I want to live and see my son graduate college. I want to keep my wife safe. Guess I am selfish that way...

Trump has no relevancy in our calculus as to what to do. Well, on second thought, maybe he does: whatever he says, do exactly the opposite, and you will do/be fine. He's like the anti-oracle!
I totally agree: a national shutdown was the ONLY reasonable way to have the best chance of reducing the contagion. That didn't happen (and apparently won't happen because of those God-awful mid-west states).

(12,712 posts)I would suggest suspending judgement and not projecting the false hope of an unjustified optimism. We all might be prone to wishful thinking at this point and there will be those who will try to exploit that, of course, especially in this country the way it is now.
It is better to take a stance that this may take months or go well into next year, possibly. That way, you won't get depressed or overwhelmed by false expectations and will plan accordingly, but if it does fade out and things get better, you will feel more relieved.
At least, that's the way that I am framing it.
Be Well!

(8,144 posts)up again before solid treatment or vaccine. What experts say happens is that when we go back to
some biz as usual, cases not yet identified and cases imported seed the next epidemic wave.
Trump is going to try to push us out there prematurely for his re-election prospects. He and Cons
will want to cut any safety nets to force Americans back to work.

Of course if anyone should get credit for this trend if true, it's Democratic governors such as Governors Cuomo, Inslee and Newsom.
Also, things are starting to turn around in several European countries and gradual lifting of some restrictions may start soon in some parts of Europe.
