Oh shit

An ambulance was outside my apartment building. Someone got taken. I hope it's not covid.
Gotta watch my ass now. And I really hope I'm not breathing recirculated air.

Landlord told me when I moved in that each apartment has its own HVAC system. There are 6 fans on one side of the building, six on the other 12 apartments in one building.

I fear for apartment dwellers that may have shared air.

Maybe if you have a mask, you would feel and breathe better, UndergroundPanther! CaliforniaPeggy Apr 2020 #1

Spraying Lysol on knobs and switches. I go out with a mask
Biker glasses with the foam inserts and I let any packages sit for a week after I spray it off with bleach water. Been washing hands a lot at least once an hour.

Each unit should have a completely self contained system and what you describe backs that up. So you are safe

Do you know anyone in the building you could call to ask what's going on?

As for building codes, those are a state & local issue. You could likely find the building codes for your state, county, and city or town online.

Be safe!

I had a drain clog that backed up the grating under my water heater and filled my kitchen with about 1" of water, and it kept coming until the plumber snaked it about 5 hours later. So essentially I was host to everyone in my apartment's bath/handwashing water for most of the day. FML.
