Jaime Harrison (D) slams Lindsey Graham's degraded nurses rant, praises nurses for their sacrifice

Nurses dedicate their lives to helping people get well. The idea that they would quit their job to get a few extra dollars is ridiculous.

We know that you are the first line of defense. We see you, we appreciate you, and on #WorldHealthDay
, we thank you for your sacrifice. - Jaime Harrison

Aside from the fact that this is utter bullshit. He has no fucking clue what he is talking about when it comes to how much nurses make.

Nurses would make less if they quit their jobs asshole. He said nurses would quit because they would be making $24 per hour??
That would be less than what the majority of RNs make you imbecile. Especially experienced RNS.
I was making more than $24 per hr as a new grad RN.

I so want Jamie Harrison to trounce him in the worst way. Anyone who votes for that loathsome little honey badger of a psychopath is morally bankrupt. He is a sick, sick man.

Graham was mad thinking nurses would quit there jobs to get the extra $600 in unemployment and get more money from unemployment than by working (what a way for him to profile nurses). But if he read the language of the bill, it clearly says they wouldn't get the extra money if they quit their jobs. Furthermore, no nurse would quit their job in the first place.

My Mum is a retired Respiratory Therapist. She's kept current with her field. She's trying to volunteer. She says she feels "helpless not doing anything to help."

My siblings and I told her it was selfless to want to help, but that NO WAY was she going anywhere near COVID-19. We'd duct tape her to the couch before she could get out the door.

She's upset with us.

Oh, and she's 87.

Yeah, Auntie Lindsey, all of those medical people, trained in their fields, are just waiting to file for unemployment, you pathetic bottom feeder. Why is that the first thing repubs think in situations of an economic aid package. It's a hand up, fuckass, not a hand out.

To Jaime Harrison, character always matters, hard work is in his bones, doing what’s right is a way of life, and making good on his debt of gratitude to South Carolina is a lifelong commitment.

The son of a single teenage mom, and raised by his grandparents in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Jaime overcame the challenges of grinding poverty with the help of teachers and mentors who believed in him. From a mobile home to Yale University and Georgetown Law, Jaime never forgot who he was or where he came from.

Now, Jaime is running for U.S. Senate to fight for opportunity for all South Carolinians. Jaime knows that when your community needs help, party labels don’t matter.

https://jewishinsider.com/2020/04/a-battle-between-david-and-goliath-in-south-carolina-senate-race/

Astory Jim Clyburn thinks about from time to time is the Old Testament tale of David and Goliath. The 79-year-old House majority whip, who grew up in a parsonage under Jim Crow, knows from underdogs, having served since 1993 as a Democrat in solidly red South Carolina.

Clyburn brought up the biblical story — in which David vanquishes his foe using only a sling shot — while assessing the prospects of another South Carolina Democrat: his protégé Jaime Harrison, now running a long-shot campaign to unseat Lindsey Graham in one of the most closely watched Senate races in the country.

Harrison, an associate chairman of the Democratic National Committee, is facing “an uphill battle,” according to Clyburn. That may be an understatement: It has been 14 years since a Democrat won statewide election in South Carolina.

But Clyburn hastened to add that he believed his young charge still has a fighting chance.

Graham, one of President Donald Trump’s closest confidantes, has established himself in recent years as an estimable force in Washington, where he chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Democratic Senate candidate Jamie Harrison outpaced Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) in fundraising during the first three months of 2020, The Hill reports.

“Harrison raised more than $7.3 million in the first quarter of the year… Graham’s campaign also surpassed previous fundraising highs and raised $5.6 million, bringing the senator’s total cash on-hand to $12.8 million…. Harrison has a little more than $8 million on-hand.”
