anti-biotic or not. Since this drug has been helpful with RA and lupus ( often lupus patients have RA) might be most helpful in calming inflammatory response that can kill, but not in dropping viral load or dealing with the other symptoms.

With anti-biotic, can incur cardiac problems.

for years for RA. Had to stop it because it caused eye damage. Caught it in time so didn’t go blind from it, which can happen if you aren’t followed closely by an eye dr. Also can cause liver problems. This can be a dangerous drug if you aren’t followed carefully by your doctor and eye dr.

The headaches were crippling. I've never had headaches like that before or since. Doctor took me off of it right away.

I'm not sure why hospitals are stockpiling it, if you're sick enough to go to the hospital you're probably in bad shape already. It would be like hospitals stockpiling Tamiflu.

These people are sick.

on elderly nursing home patients, in--where else?--Texas:

[link:https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a32081472/trump-hydroxychloroquine-texas-nursing-home/|]

So Governor Greg Abbott says essentially that the drug was used experimentally—"to determine if" is the giveaway phrase there—on elderly patients in a nursing home without the knowledge of their families, who are only now being notified. This does not strike me as a best practices situation. In fact, Abbott’s announcement smacks of the administration*’s new variation on the Hippocratic Oath, to wit: "Hey, what do you have to lose?"

And, of course, this being Texas, land of exploding fertilizer plants, regulatory oversight is little more than a mirage.

Asked whether he was required to get permission from the Texas Department of State Health Services to administer hydroxychloroquine to COVID-19 patients, Armstrong said no. “We just, as a group of health experts, we made the decision it would be safe and for their benefit,” he said. “These are not meds that are odd or unusual.”
