I mean, she might listen to her children and change her will. That's why it is important that everyone comes to the church on Sunday, fill the plates with contributions and hopefully cough near the old folk who came here to pray. Don't worry about coughing, that just means the Devil is leaving. If any of the elderly missed the service, then it would be really nice if someone went and visited every one of those poor souls that couldn't make it to church. While there, remind then that giving to the church insures a place in heaven. Once again, don't be scared to cough.

(2,216 posts)I wondered, why would they would willingly expose their congregations and their communities to disease. I don't think for a moment that they are motivated by faith. They may believe, but their bottom dollar informs their faith more strongly than the guidance to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." does. These are Christians with convenient ethics all the way.
Apart from wanting their offering plates filled, these folk are going to be quite aware of the property and money left in their old parishioners wills. The true sociopaths among the pastors will be thinking about getting that money quickly. I think the evidence of pedophilia protection amongst church authorities is evidence of rampant convenient ethic.
I am a believer, but one that believes that religious authority needs to be held to a much higher standard and much closer scrutiny. I learned that from the New Testament. Jesus made it pretty clear that we should distrust church authority.
