KY Gov Says In-Person Churchgoers Will Have License Plates Recorded, Be Forced to Quarantine 14 days

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced Friday that anyone planning on attending in-person church services during the Easter weekend in defiance of public health restrictions intended to contain the spread of COVID-19 will be subject to an enforced 14-day quarantine.

Beshear also announced 242 new cases of COVID-19, the highest single day increase in the state so far. As of Friday, there were a total of 1,693 cases in the state, including 90 deaths and 464 recoveries. Beshear said that the highly contagious nature of the virus means that gatherings must be halted completely, regardless of the reason.

"Any individual that's going to go to a mass gathering of any type that we know about this weekend, we are going to record license plates and provide it to local health departments," said Beshear at a press conference. "Local health departments are going to come to your door with an order for you to be quarantined for 14 days."

Beshear said that "99.9 percent" of places of worship were complying with his emergency order, with officials aware of six churches that were planning on going forward with services regardless of the order.

The governor stressed that although some may believe they are exercising their religious rights and making personal choices about the risks they are exposing themselves to, they will not be allowed to endanger the lives of others.

"If you're going to expose yourself to this virus and you make that decision to do it, it's not fair to everybody else out there that you might spread it to," Beshear said. "This is just an example of personal responsibility."

It could be a lot easier to enforce. And they also can't say you kept them from going.

are endangering the safety of the entire community. If I knew that someone like this who went to a church filled w/ worshippers who then got sick (and this is happening in areas where these churches are still meeting in person, look at Georgia, etc.) and then went shopping at my local grocery store, I would be livid and angry at that person putting all of us at risk.

They can preach all they want that Jesus is protecting them etc. (which is BS actually when you see these congregations falling sick w/ the CV) and that's fine, that's your business, not mine.

We're not stifling your free speech, or your religious rights, you can do it online, you can do it by phone, by webcast, two cans with a string attached between the two cans. There's a whole slew of options out there.

But in these trying times, common sense, decency and courtesy demands protective measures to be undertaken by ALL of us, including the church goers too, to protect the entire community.

But leave me and mine alone. Stay out of my neighborhood and shops. Don't come around me and mine and possibly infect everyone I know and love. I'm not going to let you harm any of mine. That's what you're doing. You are threatening me and mine w/ your ignorant insistence on personally going to a crowded environment (church) and possibly spreading this disease. And I already heard the stories 'oh, we'll be careful, etc., we'll check for fever, etc.'. It didn't work in Georgia, elsewhere.

I prefer to believe in proven science. God didn't say to ignore the damn evidence in front of you. They want you to use your damn brain, otherwise you might as well walk into the street, and get in front of a moving car. What in the hell are you trying to prove to everyone? All you are proving to me is that you all are idiots, are putting your communities in harms' way, and literally don't care about your friends, family, or neighbors.

Again, selfish idiots. I lost what little respect I had remaining. I do know that there are, thankfully some religious institutions that are listening to the medical experts, that do care about all of us, that implement other methods of non-personal worship.

Maybe these particular churches that feel like or insist that they need to have a hands on approach in worshipping are really doing it for the money and other underhanded purposes? Makes you wonder.

others. Like they get angry when studios censor T&A in Movies & Games. These children fight back by making bootleg versions or violent misogynistic porn in response. When politicians pass sensible gun laws, they disregard it because they believe it's their God given right to own a gun. Many others give us the finger and pass around 3d printed gun blueprints. Now with this virus they risk other people's lives so they can go to unnecessary public gatherings like churches or parties. Wish that was it, but I'm sure there has been more things these selfish ass hats have done to risk other people's lives for their own amusement.
