I'm thinking "Free States of America" is a bit over the top. I do like it though.

(29,193 posts)we had a conference room at NASA named after the "Vanguard Program" and we would joke that any current project conceived in that conference room was doomed.

(25,428 posts)There are a lot of blue/purple cities in red states that are addressing it assertively, as well.
Also, Kentucky.

(15,703 posts)I understand that red states might not be testing but they should still have some who die? The whole thing is awful even if it were red states getting it mostly.
They just need to hope this concludes as smoothly as possible. And really hope it doesn't come back in the Fall.

(25,183 posts)have more interaction with the nations where C-19 started. That's natural, because most blue states are coastal. They also have higher numbers of people who have family ties to China, Italy, etc.
The existence of the Interstate Highway System means that the red states will eventually catch up.

(86,332 posts)all the -45 hatred that blue states are so what about us? We have a Dem Governor.

So tired of the red-blue division as to the response in which we all need to be united.

(86,332 posts)And i have had it, as I posted last week, with all those self righteous folks telling me I have too many Senators and therefore, over represented. As if we should just have a mayor or something for three or four states.
It's pretty devisive. and I don't have anything positive to say to those who keep telling me I don't matter because I don;t live in a big city.
They complain about how we rural folks keep voting for rs and we have all these destructive extractive industries because we're stupid. I asked one of them a few days ago if they had any idea of why that might be. They never responded.
Fact is, we wouldn't be red states if big $$ hadn't come from all those high population states to come out here and offer high paying jobs, at first, to ravage the land and politicians all about making it "rain" for the poor locals. Those politicians who are in cahoots with those "job creators" is a problem facilitated by those very high populations states who want our trees for their houses and furniture, minerals from our mines for heating, electricity and other amenities they take for granted like kids who think that food comes from a store, wrapped in plastic film.
Npw we are not only being ravaged by extractive industries but also tourism which in the numbers of visitors we are seeing these past years is very destructive to the natural environment they claim to prize.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Speak up and get slammed because how could I, a resident, know anything?
(I grew up in nebraska - so I hear you.)
Thanks. It's a problem trying to herd all these cats but if we had one big can of cat food, it would be easier.

Might as well make it official.

(86,332 posts)I am glad California for some things but I sure as hell wouldn't care to live there ever again. I like being rural and I don't want to turn this place into a California-like subdivision. We already have a bunch of tourists showing up complaining that Yellowstone isn't Disneyland. They should just go there instead.
And I don't want siliCON Valley having anything to do with how my state is managed. We're already fighting destructive mining that would be for their benefit but trash our water and environment.

I can tell you from living in a red city in a blue state people even here will disobey if red states open things. My republican neighbor went off on how bored he is and thats its just a flu few days ago. I talked to him while I was leaving to walk dog.
