Is ordering "non essential" items from Amazon, etc a no-no?

Staying home other then food and meds, and ordering house-hold stuff (work gloves, a bigger mailbox, mouse traps, wall hooks, etc) online to avoid non-essential trips out.

But saw it mentioned 2x today as pissing people off.
Should that too be avoided?

But, it seems to me that as long as you batch purchases and avoid any nonessential single-item nonessential purchases, that is fine. One person's nonessentials could be "essential" in another's mind. Look at all the people purchasing various types of hair elastics and bandanas to make masks for example. WHo would think hair elastics would be even remotely "essential?"

If you are going to venture out to get these things, you are better off ordering it on-line. And so is the public.
In my opinion, being out buying non-essential things are worse than ordering them on line.

I figured it was safer for all to order what was needed.

I have ordered lots of things recently. Some things took a lot longer to arrive. For example, I have ordered network equipment, a flapper valve for my toilet, organic pesticide, creme brulee etc. All of it was shipped. Most arrived on time.

Amazon is a huge company, they don’t need our help with their procedures.

I have ordered some gardening supplies, I am not going to wait in a massive line at a nearby big box store, more harm than ordering.

For my craft supplies (I need these for quarantine sanity). I have begun to use Etsy, works great! I have ordered a bush from a local garden center which delivers also. Not much more expensive and they are known for quality.

for the same reasons: for their unethical business practices. But we had to the other day. On the first week of teaching online courses, the microphone on my spouse’s laptop went kaput. Major problem when your students can’t hear you! Fortunately, he was able to switch to my desktop temporarily, though it meant transferring files, etc. After hours of consultation with his institutions tech support., it was determined the thing was just dead. We had to order an external microphone, and Amazon was the only one that seemed to have the chosen one available. Hope it works.

I avoided Amazon since 2016, but the need for a document camera took precedence, due to my online work.
