Said Navarro: I challenge you: Show me the 60 Minutes episode a year ago, two years ago, or during the Obama administration, during the Bush administration, that said, Hey, global pandemics coming, you gotta do X, Y, and Z, and by the way, we would shut down the entire global economy to fight it. Show me that episode, then youll have some credence in terms of attacking the Trump administration for not being prepared.
Well, roll the videotape.

It just doesn't happen.

(46 posts)First the recordings will be decried as a "deep fake", then the host will be excoriated for badgering Novarro. Then they'll probably probably say the whole broadcast is just a bunch of nasty gotcha questions. Of course this is assuming the next idiocy doesn't distract from this stupidity. Otherwise tRump might declare martial law and shutdown all the broadcasters who are transmitting stuff he doesn't want to hear...
Ya know it's not funny, he's nuts enough to try that...

(21,102 posts)You got to be crazy, you gotta have a real need
You gotta sleep on your toes and when you're on the street
You got to be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight
You got to strike when the moment is right without thinking
And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in
You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder
You know, it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder
As you get older
Yeah, and in the end you'll pack up and fly down south
Hide your head in the sand
Just another sad old man
All alone and dying of cancer
And when you lose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down all alone
Dragged down by the stone
Gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze
Deaf, dumb and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable, and no one has a real friend
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
Everything's done under the sun
But you believe at heart everyone's a killer
Who was born in a house full of pain
Who was trained not to spit in the fan
Who was told what to do by the man
Who was broken by trained personnel
Who was fitted with collar and chain
Who was given a pat on the back
Who was breaking away from the pack
Who was only a stranger at home
Who was ground down in the end
Who was found dead on the phone
Who was dragged down by the stone
Who was dragged down by the stone

...They didn't confront him to his face. That's why these guys get to walk away, relatively unscathed in the eyes of their supporters, and sell their narrative. Those clips needed to be put in front of him, to his face, and let him address it. To him, this is like someone getting a hole-in-one playing by themselves. It never happened.

(2 posts)Totally agree! We see this happen all the time: someone makes a claim in "real time" which is later refuted by the facts, but by that time it doesn't matter because arguments are won in the moment.
This is why lies and liars are so hard to fight - you must have instant command of all data in real time, while liars only need to keep throwing s**t out there for people to get a whiff of.

(9,670 posts)I mean, let's face it, we all know the Trump administration is more full of shit than portapotties on race day. We knew immediately.
But are Trumpers swayed by these revelations at all?
They're the ones whose minds need to be changed.
Rest assured, they all heard Navarro's challenge. But how many heard 60 Minutes' response?
And how many LISTENED to 60 Minutes' response?
MyOwnPeace
(16,917 posts)that their minds need to be changed (well, for one thing - that'll never happen!) - but we DO need to have those "undecideds" and those who say "both sides are the same" - we need THEM to wake up and realize that the true national disaster is IQ45 and his mis-administration.
