Over Our Dead Bodies - Trump Will Declare Parts of Country Open on May 1

“President Trump has all but decided to begin declaring the country ready to get back to business on May 1, but a scramble is underway inside the White House to determine how to stagger a reopening of the economy amid the novel coronavirus pandemic while also protecting Trump from any political fallout,” the Washington Post reports..

“Impatient with the economic devastation wrought by social distancing and other mitigation measures — and fearful of the potential damage to his reelection chances — Trump has been adamant in private discussions with advisers about reopening the country next month.”

"I will be speaking to all 50 governors very shortly," Trump said. "And I will then be authorizing each individual governor of each individual state to implement a reopening, very powerful reopening plan of their estate in a time in a manner which is most appropriate."

I.e. someone finally told me that I can't order the country open so I'll make it seem like it is my choice.

Unless he were operating in the opposite direction like his dictator buddies Modi and Duterte, where they're patrolling the streets with giant machine guns.

Come to my house and force me to go to my office? Force me to eat at a restaurant? Force me to go to the mall?

He can bellow all he wants, but for all practical purposes, his rants are nonsense.

He is waist deep in poop and surrounded by the damned who are all sipping tea out of China cups and chatting.
A woman next to him hands him a full tea cup. The man takes a sip and says, " Gee...this isn't so bad. I think I can get used to it."
Suddenly a siren wails and the booming voice on the loudspeaker says, " Okay shiteaters, back in your heads. Break is over"

Sound familiar?

If the country re-opens May 1, it'll be interesting to drive past restaurants and such just to see how many people take the risk. Especially the people that think it's so important the economy gets reopened,
