One of the numerous reasons we have to be rid of Allen West...

West, a former U.S. Army officer, suggested it was the Obama administration's support for the Arab Spring uprisings that encouraged the attacks by "intolerant, barbaric, radical Muslims."
"Americans need to question whether the deaths of these innocent patriots could have been avoided," said the controversial lawmaker in a statement. "The Obama Administration touted the Arab Spring as an awakening of freedom, which we now see is a nightmare of Islamism." West then repeated a false claim that U.S. Embassy officials in Cairo "apologized" for the inflammatory film.
"President Obama's policy of appeasement towards the Islamic world has manifested itself into a specter of unconscionable hatred," West continued, declaring that the events in Libya and Egypt ranked with the Iranian hostage crisis, in which 52 Americans were held for 444 days in Tehran, starting in late 1979.
"President Obama has clearly surpassed former President Jimmy Carter and his actions during the Iranian Embassy crisis, as the weakest and most ineffective person to ever occupy the White House," West said. He did not mention that Obama's watch has also seen the death of Osama bin Laden and scores of extra-judicial killings of terrorists in drone strikes.

Since teabaggers seem to be very comfortable with authoritarianism in their own lives, I suppose that attitude should not be surprising.
Perhaps some Muslims have read Ben Franklin. Or, more likely, it is a universal human sentiment.
"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." (Those who are still fighting in Syria after 18 months must believe this to be true.)
According to West, Franklin didn't know what he was talking about. Muslims (being fundamentally different from the rest of us, I suppose) should prefer to sacrifice liberty for a little safety from the their "intolerant, barbaric, radical" brethren.

The death of Ambassador Chris Stevens, American Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith and two other Americans is an outrage. Governor Romney is absolutely right, there is no justification for these deadly attacks and we should never apologize for American freedom. Islamic radicals will use any pretext to justify their hatred of America and our freedom.
It was disheartening to hear the administration condemn Americans engaging in free speech that hurt the feelings of Muslims, while real atrocities have been repeatedly committed by Islamic radicals against women, Christians, and Jews in the Middle East.
American freedoms are not to blame for the terrorist attacks of 9/11 or the apparently coordinated attacks on yesterdays anniversary. Islamic extremists are to blame and we must work with officials in Libya and Egypt to ensure those who attacked our embassies are brought to justice.
These attacks raise serious questions about whether we were properly prepared and about the effectiveness of our policies and foreign aid in these nations. We need to get the facts on these attacks, the ongoing threats to America in these countries, and rethink our policies in Libya and Egypt going forward.
