It showed that people were protesting having to stay inside their homes.
It sounds like it had been previously agreed to that they would stay in their cars and drive around the block in the proximity of some federal building or something, and beep their car horns in protest. OK, fine. No problem.
There was a reporter on the street covering the event, and he was wearing a mask. Some of the protesters went rogue, and were walking on the street, not wearing masks. You could see the reporter doing some moves to avoid these people who were walking by him.
You could see a couple of young men, without masks, approaching the reporter from behind. When they reached him, one of the men put his face about 6 inches from the reporter's ear, waved a small Trump flag (maybe 6 x 9 inches) near the reporter's head, and yell "WOOOOOOOOO!" into the reporter's ear.
These are the people who are going to get everyone killed. The reporter would have had every right to go all Hammer Time on that fucking idiot.
Seeing this happen, as well as some other improbable events that happened to me all at once this morning finally caused me to snap. I calmly put on my shoes, walked into my garage, and beat the holy fuck out of my Rubbermaid garbage can that goes out to the curb every week. I destroyed it. I wailed on it for about 5 minutes. It is not usable now. Neither are my hands. I am on a blood thinner, and they're still bleeding.
Damn stupid thing to do, but boy, did it make me feel 100% better.

(10,299 posts)Truckers have dashcams. 70,000 lbs of truck and trailer is gonna leave a mark... as long as driver is giving all due notice and is in the right...

(86,308 posts)I have had run-ins with undesirables trying to stop me and I just look at them and grab the next higher gear and let them know that I will drive right through them. It usually clears the path. If they think you're not gonna stop, they'll move, right quick too.

(86,308 posts)It's just as entertaining from the driver's seat/rear view mirrors as it is in a well scripted movie watching them fling themselves into the ditch or whatever is on the side of the road.
I always made like I was packing firepower too, even though I never did. I was taught early on that making like "I'll mess you up if you get stupid" is the way to go, appearances speak loudly in some places. And of course, weighing somewhere in the neighborhood of 80,000lbs helps.

Why do they want to mess with truckers anyway? 🤬

(86,308 posts)I also wore a dress from time to time just to put misogynists on notice that I was not messing around, see I can do the same job weighing 40-70% less and wearing a dress, even throwing freight. It just killed some of them. I had a good time doing that, often. I had a reputation out there for some time. Nobody else was that ballsy.

(86,308 posts)thank you, my time in the wild had it's entertainment value. I'm paying for the fun now as my body is now trashed from over use of my skeleton. But at least it was fun while it lasted and I still get a good chuckle from some memories, like right now. I was a strike breaker* and just one bad little girl back in those days.
*Sometimes a strike is unwarranted and some demands were over the top in some cases, at least back then it was so.

(10,299 posts)Too many years of four wheel driving has me mashing the city horn when I want to make other drivers aware that Im there or that theyre driving too dangerously.
Ive yet to encounter a protest group impeding my path but I assure you that the air horn will be used extensively should this be the case. Oh, and hammer down since my truck is automatic.

(57,073 posts)Police really should arrest these people. ALL of them & courts should make examples of them, as in 20 yrs apiece.
MI folks here on DU now reporting hospital road blocked, stopping ambulances getting patients to hospital! 🤬

(86,308 posts)twin sticks a lot, manual transmission, and when in "deep under" you can push a house over on it's side like a bulldozer. That way you don't do as much damage to your rig while moving the blockade out of the way. I had a good 15+ years of road warrior and I am sure I have seen 90% of all there is to see from trucking strikes, hijackings, and human blockades. I even "lost" an idiot trying to harass me, he was on a motorcycle... how do you lose a whole semi when you're on a motorcycle? That's how bright that bulb was. Fun times.

Politics in public places is best never done, staying in place for 6 weeks is finally wearing me down.

(296 posts)First job, getting large old grain elevator, feedmill, back in compliance with CCC regs. Did get to visit regional chief of compliance office--Kansas City--not fun. Had to win back almost all customers after they'd been chased away due to nonpayment for grain, etc. MAJOR lawsuits--finally settled--all debts paid with interest--mill back into compliance and technically back into black b4 moving on to greener pastures--Old cattle feed bunk--300 ft long--poured in place--one piece--damn solid--in wrong place as we didn't use that yard anymore--couldn't move. When things got too frustrating would stay after work and use sledgehammer on it --a little at a time. Not bad therapy as long as no one could hear cussing. Go ahead--laugh--but after a year I finally had that sucker out of there.

(17,410 posts)Swinging a sledge is fantastic for several reasons:
Physical conditioning, both muscular and aerobic
Release of tension, which promotes better overall health
And the fact that you stuck with it shows that you have strong determination and a good work ethic!
I would never laugh at someone doing that...I admire it!

Tolerating this sort of anti-social behavior in time of life & death crisis is enabking them.
Courts should give them about 20 yrs each & quickly. Put a stop to this! 🤬

(17,410 posts)I had a wild temper when I was younger, but I NEVER used it on a living thing. I've destroyed walls, etc., but that is about it. For the past 40 years or so though, I've been pretty mellow and rarely lose my temper.
I was laughing my ass off after it was over today, because it reminded me of another incident that happened about 10 years ago...
I was sitting on my enclosed front porch. The guy next door was having an argument with his wife. No yelling from him, but she was screaming and calling him every name in the book. Now on the surface, you would think this guy would never ever lose his temper. he was kind, quiet, friendly and gentle.
So I'm sitting on the porch, listening to his wife scream at him, and I see him walk out of his house with a golf club. This was not unusual at all, since there is a golf course directly across the street. I figured he was walking over to take a few practice shots. The edge of the golf course is lined with pine trees.
He walked across the street with his club. let out a primal scream, and beat the trunk of a huge pine tree with that club for about 30 minutes, while screaming and cursing. He was swinging for the fences. Bark was flying all over the place.
When he was done, he calmly walked back into his house. No more yelling was heard after that.
