What if there were an attack on the US now. I mean military. A genuine military attack. Not a cyber attack. Not saber rattling.
I know. A crazy notion. But my thought was whether any erstwhile ally would take even marginal steps to support the US, even with NATO and a host of expectations even in the absence of written agreements.
Putting COVID-19 aside, thought that's not really possible, if you were Germany or England or Canada or Australia, can you genuinely see any one of them jumping into that kind of fray? And can you just picture their citizens' reactions?
I can imagine responses in the no, hell no, and fuck no range.

(7,503 posts)I'd say without a nuclear war we'd be a pushover. Read where Harry Truman battle group has ended its deployment but is being told to keep circling in open ocean and not return to stay clear of Orange death.
I think Trump has basically left us defenseless.
