I'm back from my first 'away from home' outing in a MONTH

Of course, it was to my favorite shop, Aldi. Let me give them a shout out. That store is so well prepared to protect their customers and employees. I got there right at their 8:30 ‘vulnerable customer’ shopping time and there were only about 6 other customers - all appropriate to the demographic. An employee was outside, sanitizing the carts. All aisles are one-way and people were masked, gloved, and definitely paying attention to ‘social distancing’ while still being the typical, friendly Aldi shopper. They are still out of certain things but nothing critical, except for the toilet paper. Fortunately, that wasn’t on my list. Well, and bacon. That WAS on my list. I settled for sausage. And, as usual, the staff is beyond patient, friendly and helpful. I am now stocked up and prepared for another month.

Then, a quick stop at the Dollar Tree. Their employees aren’t masked or gloved and other than limiting how many customers can be in the store and asking people to socially distance themselves, I saw NO precautions. I picked up the few things I could find, that I needed, and high tailed it home to scrub up.

While I know it will be a long time before things are back to normal, it’s nice to know that I can plan a Tuesday or Thursday early shopping stop for any groceries I need.

Oh, and my home made, tropical themed mask was as comfortable as wearing a mask can be.

I use a bit too 'robust' of a lining in the first one I made. It felt suffocating, after a few minutes of trying it out.

My next outing is to the bank. Since I'll be using the drive thru, I think I might just skip wearing a mask. Regardless of whether I'm in the building, or not, it just seems like a bad idea to wear one there.

If, as you say, it doesn't allow enough air to pass through, it is even harder to get used to.

(oof! putting on the button pants didn’t go well, )

Had to go to the BIG stores like Grocery Outlet, WalMart and a very popular weed store. Went masked, also felt like I was suffocating, so I touched that stupid thing more than I should have to adjust so I could breathe. Had sanitizer and wipes in my car to do hands, keys and purse between stops. Now I’m nervously waiting for 14 days to pass, wondering if I’ve caught it. 11 to go....

The stores in our area are except the 99 cent store. It's to bad that stores that cater to a less expensive demographic are the ones doing the least precautions.

I've never been to Aldi, but am now getting deliveries from them. The produce is great! Almost everything I've ordered has been in stock, but the last two deliveries they were out of carrots.

There are 2 other much bigger grocers, in my area (Kroger and Meijer) and a super Walmart right across the street from Aldi. I always know what I want, before I got shopping, and can get 99% of that at Aldi, fast and inexpensive. Plus, it's only about 2 miles up the road.
