NASCARs Chip Ganassi Racing team got it right Tuesday in firing driver Kyle Larson for using the n-word during a live-streamed virtual race.
And if NASCAR wants to be considered a major league sport, attract the corporate sponsors that are auto racings lifeblood and diversify its fan base, Larson wont get another ride in its premier Cup Series anytime soon, if ever.
Larson and all U.S. citizens enjoy the constitutionally protected right to express themselves even in profane, repugnant and offensive ways. But doing so can have consequences.
Driving a front-running Cup car is not a right. Its a privilege that is earned, and one that can be taken away.
Words matter.

No more big paychecks for Kyle.

(6,228 posts)Racist stuff does not bother NASCAR. They could have a parade of KKK and no one would care.
