Watching Trump's news conference.....

... most people have a basic empathy, a natural way of connecting with other human beings. Even in his strained attempts to appear magnanimous, Trump can't do it.
There is something wrong with him -- something dead on the inside. He really is a DSM case study waiting to happen.

3. A mixture of personality disorders.

While it has not been considered ethical to diagnose people without clinical testing, face to face in a private setting, there have been at least a couple of professionals who have reviewed Trump's behaviors and maybe did some digging into his upbringing.

My guess would be the Trump suffered significant attachment injuries as an infant and likely exacerbated growing up. His mother has been described as favoring her daughter, and never taking Trump with her on trips (she liked to go back to where she grew up in Scotland to show of her wealth). Trump had behavior problems as a kid to the extend that they shipped him to military school. I would say from his behavior, he would be diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder and my other guess is Antisocial Personality Disorder though that one has more specific criteria (juvenile crimes) that I am not sure he was charged with.

He lacks empathy certainly. He doesn't relate to people in any way except in a transactional way, where he uses people for his benefit.

and sounding beyond insincere when attempting to deliver somber and compassionate remarks about the victims, I think "this is truly the most poorly-trained sociopath that has ever existed!"

he has to perform but because he is in way over his head, he cannot

Trump has lived his entire life using money and threats to get ahead; he is now finally being exposed for exactly what he is: A FRAUD

6. He goes through life acting

and the acting is for the purpose of getting his way through dominating what others think and perceive. He controls his environment carefully to make himself look as powerful as possible. He measures the success or failure by ratings. He knows his real self is a failure so he just puts on a persona he makes up. The only thing sincere in him is his pursuit of power and his self pity.

am just amazed by the contrast. They stick to the facts, to reassuring the public without glossing over the reality of the situation and they reveal their humanity.

Charlie Baker was actually reduced to tears the other night - and I believe they were genuine - when he spoke of how his best friend's mother passed from Covid-19 and he was not allowed to be with her in the moment of her death and the family had been deprived of the important ritual of a service and ritual. It made him more human and likable, and therefore more trustworthy.

I could never in a million years see Trump expressing genuine grief at someone else's tragedy and mustering up any real emotion. Any time he tries to sound sympathetic or empathetic, he sounds like a robot who is being forced to say words that are completely foreign to his experience. He is a completely broken excuse of a human being.

11. To make watching it interesting I made notes
Thu Apr 16, 2020, 08:32 PM
Apr 2020

It lasted an hour and 19 minutes
Trump rehashed the past several months for 24 minutes
8 incredibles
2 beautifuls
2 very, very's
2 "nobody ever saw's"
Then Pence talked for 6 minutes and managed to work in 2 BJ's
Then Birx explained the three phases for 11 minutes and that should have been the whole press conference
Then Tony explained some things for 5 minutes
Then questions, or the press trying to ask questions for 33 minutes
Trump "answered" 7 questions. Only put down Dems once.
Tony 2 questions
Birx 2 questions
