Perhaps, this is the best definition of Trump voters behavior.

Denialism, Denial syndrome: A persons choice to deny reality as a way to avoid psychologically uncomfortable truth. Denialism is an irrational act, a person refuses to accept verifiable reality. `

We like to call Trump voters cult followers. In general that may be too extreme. Most, not all Trump voters would not listen to Trump if he told them they must give poisoned kool-aid to their children and themselves.

I believe denialism is a better definition of Trump voters behavior.

In recent posts I described how their behavior is not unique. It has been repeated throughout history. One example I used was our civil war. The people of the South were suffering from denialism. They refused to believe their way of life was evil, that slavery was evil. If they admitted slavery was evil, they would have had to admit they are evil. The truth terrified them.

When truth and reality terrify you, you will commit irrational acts in order to protect what you believe to be true. Sane people will begin to call you crazy. When a large number of people come together suffering from denialism, it can lead to a great catastrophe. History shows us this over and over again.

"Magical thinking is the belief that one's ideas, thoughts, wishes, or actions can influence the course of events in the physical world. It is something people all over the globe engage in, and many religious and folk rituals center around it."

This is Trump's constant bragging and use of the words beautiful, the constant cheerleading and lies. The Power of Positive Lying.

This is people thinking this latest social media meme is true because I want it to be true. I believe it is true. It aligns with my religious and political beliefs so it must true.

People who suffer from denialism need a leader, or cause or symbol to rally around. A chosen one if you will. Trump is their chosen one. That's why they follow him unconditionally. He can't ever be wrong because that would destroy their denialism. Trump being wrong terrifies them.

Because I'm sure there are more than a few.
