MSNBC news report on the coming meat shortages

Due to numerous plants having to shut down over COVID-19 transmission (not just the Smithfield plan in South Dakota) consumers should expect in a week or two rationing at your grocer limiting the amount of meat you can buy, Like 1 package of hamburger per person.

Not to alarm anyone, and certainly not to stoke you to go out and panic buy or hoard, just a heads up as to what will likely be coming next.

I have half a lamb, an unused Easter ham, and normally buy at a grocery store that offers 5 for 19.99 on meat that's close to the sell by date.

I had a major heart attack 25 years ago - lost 10-15% of my heart. At this point I'm healthier than I've ever been and at 71 run circles around some that are 20 years my junior at the gym.

How are you doing? Was your attack painful? Did you go to cardiac rehab - it was a gas exercising with all those electrodes taped on.

I'm sorry folks, but it's not often that I get to commiserate with a fellow MI survivor.

My attack wasn't painful. I just lost consciousness and collapsed. I didn't know what happened.

When I went to the emergency room, the doc told me I had a heart attack. One of my arteries was almost fully blocked. The doctors put a stent in it.

If we don't soon start testing all our supply chain workers each day when they come to work, we are risking shutting the entire supply chain down. One day its going to be meat, another day something else. Then its going to be truck drivers and transportation delays and shortages. Then the wholesalers and retailers shuttering. It's going to be anywhere a breakout can occur, and its all interconnected. Governors can only do so much. Every community has got to look at its own supply chain industry and get engaged now.

And all the while this shitty president sits back on his fat lazy ass and does nothing but try to make everyone fight each other.

Is that regardless it of how many people are in that person's family? A pack of hamburger goes a lot further for a single person versus a family of four. Another issue I have with these limitations is that a lot of us are buying for our nuclear families plus our older parents right now.

For no particular reason I was watching this stream on ABCnews.com website and right before Cuomo was respond the reporter's question they cut the stream and went to a commercial. Once the commercial was over they cut to another broadcast feed in the UK.
AND some ppl think only think that Fox News is the only major media network.

In regards to protein for my husband and me, I bought 2 jars chunky peanut butter, a small cheese qtray, 3 rotisserie chickens to cut up and freeze, and a cut of ham (not Smithfield). I also got some prepared main dishes. Notice I'm counting PB and cheese as protein; already have lots of beans and will get eggs later.

When it's time for smaller consumables like eggs and bread, I'll go to Trader Joe's.

My ability to shop has been severely lcurtailed by my knee replacement in mid-February, so when I did a TJ's run 2 weeks ago it was a big deal. This Costco run was a 2-cart excursion that kind of gave my husband the wim-wams, but I was ruthless -- because of the timing of my surgery I never did get stocked up for the pandemic the way I wanted to do, and the closure of Smithfield was yet another siren going off.

I finally, finally feel like I have enough of everything (canned, dried, and frozen) to simply shut the door on the world for a couple of months if need be. I feel very fortunate. Best of luck to all of you.
