I'm absolutely fascinated by the gun humpers (and others) who appear at these protests.

If I had the occasion to speak to one, I would tell them:

1) There are other people in the world besides you.

2) You won't shoot anyone with your gun. You don't have the balls.

3) I don't care that you can't get a haircut, or get your nails done. I know it's wrong to judge, but most of you are fucking ugly anyway. A haircut or a nail job won't help.

4) It's OK that your penis is smaller than average. Nobody cares about your penis.

5) Trump flags, Trump hats, and Trump shirts have run their course. You look stupid. No seriously, you do.

6) If you block a health care worker from getting to their job, or if you block an ambulance, there is a good chance that someone will pull you out of your car window by your collar and beat the shit out of you. They will hit you in the face, many times. When you wake up, you will be lucky to remember your name, let alone your "rights".

7) Yes, we all have the right to protest in this country. But when the timing and method of your protests spreads a dangerous disease to innocent people, you're walking on very thin ice when citing your "rights".

8) Things happen in life that are not "hoaxes". People in virtually every country in the world are not dying alone on purpose to stick it to Trump. They're just not. Really.

9) If you make a sign, it looks better when you use actual words that are spelled correctly.

10) When you stand in public proudly displaying your guns, you do not look like a patriot. or a soldier. You look like someone who just woke up from a long nap on a dirty couch and then proceeded to go on a 5 day pudding binge.

11) Trump does not "tell it like it is". He doesn't know enough words to be able to do that.

12) Liberals do not think you are all stupid. Liberals are smart enough to recognize that just because you talk like you're a dumb ass, you may actually be somewhat knowledgeable in certain subjects.

13) There's a fair chance that you have COVID-19, and do not know it. No really, I'm not kidding.

14) If you get the stay at home order lifted, then what? What do you think the result will be?

teach skills to deal with life’s disappointments and suffering... mindfulness training, for instance, would be a great addition starting in early grade school. People need to learn how to get a grip.

I have long said psych 101 & human growth & development should be a big part of schooling from early on!

And reaching about the stages of grief should be a part of that every year! One thing is for certain, we will all depart the mortal coil at some point, but it's not only about death. Life is full of losses: losing a job or home, friends moving away, etc , etc. And people should know how to deal with these events.

Self-conpassion vs self-esteem should be taught as well. The former teaches you to be ok with your mistakes, the latter teaches in order to be ok, you have to be "better than" others.

And mindfulness is key! People are, imho, going nuts at home because they are addicted to chronic stress & are also not comfortable being quiet and still. 👍

Thx for your post!

are feeling more uncomfortable with all the free time.

I feel bad for people who can’t relax and have a good time with those they care about or working on hobbies, projects or themselves... or just being in the moment. Soon enough we will be deluged with pressure to buy buy buy and forget about the momentarily blue skies...

Of course religion doesn't help. It is a socio-political control mechanism based on fear. Fear of the creative forces fear of living, and fear of dying & going to "hell" - an arguably human construct.

How they get people, especially women, to buy into major religions has always puzzled me. And I emphasize women because every major modern religion denegrates the feminine.

I cannot begin to imagine the emotional hell people who buy into those fear-based belief systems manage grief when a loved one transitions to spirit (aka, dies). That must really torment them to think the person was not "saved" or broke some human-made rule & is suffering for eternity. Yikes!

Illogical.

Go figure.

He was a white male gun owner (for hunting) and ended up killing himself with a shotgun.

We had many discussions about the white male gun obsession over the years, particularly the last 20 years after the mass killings started with Columbine.

Even when he decided to take his own life, he did it in such a way that left a mess for others to clean up. That's a position of power, to make others clean up your mess. It wasn't just physical, either, it was a legal and financial mess, too.

Because everyone knows a bullet-proof vest can keep a virus away.

No doubt they tell themselves that at least they'll die free.

The sign that cracks me up the most is, "Facts not Fear".

Seriously? From the "Build that wall" crowd? The evolution is only a theory* crowd? The my religion is just as valid as science crowd?

The faith over science crowd is pretending that actual facts matter to them now?

lolololol

The term theory is often misused by those who don't understand that Joe Blow saying he has a theory isn't the same as when science uses the word. Joe Blow is using the word incorrectly. Joe has a guess or supposition or maybe even a hypothesis...but Joe ain't got no theory without testing and experimentation that is repeatedly confirmed through fact-based observation and experiment.
