6000+ USA deaths reported in past 24 hours. Topic should be testing and mitigation, not re-opening.

Last edited Sun Apr 19, 2020, 02:20 PM - Edit history (1)

"Note: As of 4/17, the number of cases and deaths now include probable cases to match the new CDC guidelines. This contributed to the spike in new deaths displayed for 4/17, which includes 4,226 probable deaths."

Trump has a way of layering lie upon lie, so that while an entity is fact checking and refuting one lie whilst ignoring another, it's giving the other lie credence and airtime. This happened with "the transcript." (it wasn't a transcript)

It's as if the White House were on fire, and Trump starts picking out ugly replacement furniture, and media forget to focus on efforts to put out the fire because they're distracted by tacky decorating.

and not the US alone.

Increases like this must be noted and made public, especially with the misinformation that the GOP is spreading to allow for the opening of businesses to help their reelection as it is tied to the economy.

A second wave is hitting many countries already and now some, not all...way too inconsistent, are reporting "probable deaths". The numbers will never be accurate as long as China, Russia, N Korea, Brazil, etc (including the US) don't report all of their deaths. Some countries are reporting more as are some states and cities, such as NY, per CDC guidelines...

"Following new CDC guidelines: "As of April 14, 2020, CDC case counts and death counts include both confirmed and probable cases and deaths. This change was made to reflect an interim COVID-19 position statement issued by the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists on April 5, 2020. The position statement included a case definition and made COVID-19 a nationally notifiable disease."

"Nationwide Live Data" means The USA. That website does not show data from other countries.

Note: As of 4/17, the number of cases and deaths now include probable cases to match the new CDC guidelines. This contributed to the spike in deaths shown recently.

However, the data presented at https://infection2020.com/ is consistent within itself. According to historical data compiled there, the US reported death toll rose 6000+ in the past 24 hours.

It is updated throughout the day based on the GMT. You are looking at today's numbers. Go to the link and click "yesterday" right above the chart on the left. It says Now or Yesterday. When you read "now" it is meaning tomorrow in GMT. The numbers you see now are 4:00 SUNDAY GMT, not Saturday.

Not anywhere close to that, it's around 2k -- please quit posting and defending the 6K -- you are spreading misinformation.

You are 100% factually wrong, no matter how many c/p you keep doing.

The actual number is horrific enough without misinformation and exaggeration.

Its the only website reporting this number. Others more reliable ones all indicate we went from 37 to 39 k ( 1867 deaths) in the past 24hours, not 6000.

It is a readjustment of certain cases, China recently did the same thing. It does not mean 6K+ people died in the US, or that almost 5K did in one day in NY.

Yesterday's daily total was below 2,000 where most recent days have been hovering. Quite possible that it could spike upward in next week or so though as cases in other places tick upwards. These charts from NBC that are updated each evening give most accurate numbers and explanation I have seen:
