4. It's been about 45 years since I drive thru Alabama with a friend of mine who had family there

I was stunned by the poverty of many blacks there, though I’m sure there were many that poor in E cities. Long lines of unpainted shacks that didn’t appear to have electricity and I presume running water and indoor plumbing. I suppose it’s probably better now but all I could think is they weren’t living much better than their forefathers. This was a very rural area. Or maybe it was Mississippi. So long ago I’m not sure now.
